Responsibilities
• Responsible for greeting patients in welcoming manner.
• Collect co-pays and deductibles at the time of service.
• Verify patient insurance coverage. Making sure all is correct in profile and current admission for correct billing.
• Answers and relays all calls to the appropriate staff members.

• Strict adherence to HIPAA rules and regulations to ensure patient privacy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to learn and use various software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems, and insurance verification websites.
• Soft Skills: High level of initiative, reliability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Communication: Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with diverse groups.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Must have good communication skills and be caring toward patients. Willing to work under pressure. Be understanding and answer all questions of the patient as simply as possible, to the best of his or her ability with physician direction. Use discretion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Be in good health and have a positive personality.

C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Registered Certified Medical Assistant

D. Experience:

1. Prior Work Experience: Clerical and medical terminology experience preferred.

2. Technical Training: CPR certification

3. Minimum of 200 clinical hours of training preferred.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require moderate physical activity. Extended periods of standing and walking. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides exceptional customer service and promotes a professional image and attitude; Responsible for assisting physicians/providers, patient preparation and basic screening procedures, to assure efficient patient flow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs initial assessment of patients to include collection and documenting of vital signs, chief complaint, history, allergies, current medication, results of laboratory, x-ray reports, and/or procedures and other information deemed pertinent by the physician to be included in the patient record
• Provide assistance to medical providers during examination and treatment of patients, including invasive procedures and giving various injections as ordered
• Maintains medication room with adequate levels of updated medication, monitors expiration dates on all medication and supplies, and stores medication according to manufactures guidelines
• Follows procedures when distributing samples, calling in prescriptions and obtaining physician approval on refills
• Assist with specimen collection and appropriate laboratory techniques to complete the required diagnostic tests
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, customers, self, and other employees
• Maintains records, reports, statistics, logs, etc, as required
• Adhere to clinic dress code, wearing your badge; Identify yourself to patients and customers on the phone and in person; Responds to phone calls and messages in a timely manner
• Attends necessary meetings and takes responsibility for content if absent; Maintains professional growth and participates in additional training as needed; Attends meetings on time
• Obtain supplies to keep exam and procedure rooms stocked, insuring a standard location and an adequate level of supplies; Participates in cost control measures and charges for utilized items
• Cleans and sets up examination rooms between patient exams; Controls patient flow between exam rooms, lab, x-ray, and other required procedures
• Assist with daily operation including answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and other duties as assigned as needed
• Performs nursing care in accordance with nursing standards of care, Quality Assurance Criteria, and policy and procedure guidelines

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in other assigned duties as designated by management
