American House Lakeshore resident Joe has a very special connection to . Joe planted a blue spruce in 1972 when he and his late wife moved to Roseville—little did he know that almost 20 years later, it would play a part in Detroit’s heritage by becoming the last tree to light up the city in the 20th century as the official 1999 Hart Plaza Christmas tree🎄

The residents, Life Enrichment Director Tee Dolphin, and RVP of Operations, Marina Galu, discussed caregiving, growing up in Detroit, and how the city has influenced their lives.

For their tireless efforts after a fire swept their community, what could one offer? Even something as simple as gift cards was not enough. Yet the team members said, “We don’t need gift cards, it’s just what we do.” This is who they are; they see their fellow team members in need and jump in to help. They don’t even know that not all people do that. They don’t even realize they’re heroes.

Our Holiday Heroes represent the compassion and skill of our entire team, and we salute each and every one for their dedication and service!

Fictional heroes fly in and save the day, then they’re off. After everyone was evacuated from the recent fire at American House Southgate, the heroic work was just beginning for Marina and Liz. With 81 resident seniors in their care, it was under their leadership that families were contacted, permanent and temporary homes secured, constant communication managed, and community team members nurtured and assigned roles. Yes, it was the first responders who ensured all the residents were safe. But it was these women who steered the ship, working tirelessly to make sure they all thrived

This holiday season, we were able to donate gifts to a local family through the Children’s Hospital, helping four children experience a Christmas filled with joy and excitement. 🎄✨

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed—your generosity truly made a difference. Together, we helped bring a little extra magic to a family who needed it most. ❤️

Everyone had a wonderful time at our Snow Globe Gala Family Night! ❄️✨ Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner featuring crab bisque, roasted leg of lamb with sweet potato purée, and a fresh arugula and pear salad topped with candied pecans — all beautifully prepared by Chef Dave. After dinner, everyone warmed up at our festive cocoa bar before enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, lively entertainment from DJ John, and a magical surprise visit from Santa! 🎅❤️ Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a special night.

After 13 years on the job, it’s easy to see why residents and team members not only know Jennifer, they adore her! She is a bright light in the community and as everyone’s “tech guru,” she offers a calm, reassuring presence when needed. With tireless energy, she works countless hours for the success of our community and even lends her time and talents to support the Florida Bulldogs team.

The turnaround has been so remarkable that even the state surveyors chose to sit down and enjoy her exceptional lunch while conducting their review of West Knoxville—a true testament to the quality she brings to our residents every day

Her insight and hands-on leadership elevate every community she supports

On Thanksgiving, ABC World News Tonight’s segment captured heartfelt
emotions at an American House Riverview First Responder Luncheon. Following the recent
fire at our Southgate community, our residents had the opportunity to personally thank the
men and women from a dozen local fire and police departments who shepherded them all
to safety.

After a massive blaze burned through their living center, the senior residents and staff of American House in Southgate, Michigan gave back to the heroes who saved their lives.
