Mary Lou's talent and expertise in fiber crafts led to many accomplishments, including serving as a regular guest on the popular arts-and-crafts television program "Here's Carol Duvall" and inspiring people of all ages as a decades-long volunteer at Greenfield Village.

The American House Winter Olympics have come to a close! Residents and staff had such a blast competing in all the games that, by popular demand, many of the Olympic games are going to become routine in daily activities 😃 A huge congratulations goes out to all communities, but an exemplary recognition goes out to the three communities that came away with the most medals: American House Lebanon with 5, American House Cedarlake with 5, and American House Sterling Meadows with 4 🥇🥈🥉 Way to go!!

We had a wonderful time taking our residents out to the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation! 🚗✈️

From classic cars to fascinating pieces of American history, there was so much to explore. One of the highlights of our trip was experiencing the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibit – Special Edition—what an incredible opportunity to see his inventions and masterpieces up close! It truly sparked curiosity and great conversation among everyone.

It was beautiful to see memories come flooding back as residents shared stories and connected with history in such a meaningful way. Days like this are what it’s all about—learning, laughter, and making new memories together! ❤️

We had such a wonderful time at our What’s Cookin’ cooking demo! 👨‍🍳

Chef Dave showed us how to make a delicious Cherry Jubilee, and it was a true crowd-pleaser! The sweet aroma filled the room and brought back so many special memories. Many of our residents shared stories about making it at home as a special treat for their families. ❤️

There’s nothing better than good food and even better memories! 🍒✨

We had such a wonderful time wrapping up our AH Olympics! 🏅❄️

Our final events — speed skating, hockey puck face race, and pass the pasta — brought so much energy, laughter, and friendly competition. Everyone gave it their all and showed amazing team spirit!

We ended it all with a special closing ceremony to celebrate the fun, the friendships, and of course… our winners! 🥇🥈🥉 Congratulations to all of our champions and to every participant who made this year’s AH Olympics such a success. What an incredible week! 🎉

We hosted a friendly speed skating competition between Memory Care, Assisted Living, and Independent Living residents - and what a race it was!! Memory Care proudly skated their way to the silver and bronze medals, proving that teamwork and spirit make all the difference. The cheers, laughter, and lighthearted rivalry made it a win for everyone.

Our residents were happily busy preparing for a well-attended Family Night, hand-painting hearts to brighten the dining room, and carefully crafting infused olive oils for everyone to enjoy. It was a beautiful evening made even more special by the love and intention they poured into every detail.

As our residents experience the 2026 Winter Olympics, both on TV and in their communitites, this is a special time for one American House Keene resident. As a student at Keene Junior High, Barry had the remarkable opportunity to attend the very first Special Olympics in Chicago in 1968. Not only did Barry help carry the torch, but he also competed in several events and delivered a speech in front of a huge crowd that aired on national television.

Our residents and families enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Chef Dave, amazing cocktails, tasty hors d’oeuvres, and wonderful live entertainment. It was an evening filled with great food, laughter, and beautiful memories together. 🍷🎶✨
