DOCTOR SPOTLIGHT

Meet Dr. Schiff

Dr. Marie (Kitko) Schiff grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Baldwin Wallace College in 1989 with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. She then went on to get her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry and graduated in 1993. Dr. Schiff also lead a one-year residency program working with ophthalmologists and specialized in diagnosing and treating ocular diseases. Dr. Schiff started in private practice in 1994 in northwest Columbus and then in 1999, she opened a second practice in Grove City with Dr. Marc Hartig called Southwest Eyecare. As Southwest Eyecare grew, she decided to practice more full time at this practice only. Dr. Schiff has earned the trust of many in our community with her comprehensive examination skills and great personalized patient care. She is very thorough and patients appreciate her individual and holistic approach to their eyecare and medical care needs. Many patients refer their family, friends and coworkers to her.

There are many causes of blindness, including refractive error, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. The World Health Organization estimates that about 80% of all cases of blindness are preventable. This means that with proper screenings and treatment, we can significantly reduce the number of blind or visually impaired people.
