This past week, students engaged residents in a meaningful and interactive session focused on emotions and connection. 🐾
Residents participated in a matching game using dogs’ emotions, learning how animals experience feelings just like we do. They also used a simple mood scale to reflect on how they were feeling before and after spending time with Hodge.
Of course, the highlight was playing and interacting with Hodge, bringing smiles, comfort, and joy to everyone involved. 💛

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Slippery Rock University’s Animal Assisted Intervention course, taught by Dr. Martha Kemeny, along with Hodge, her therapy dog, to Orchard Manor for a fun and engaging activity session with our residents! 🐾🎨Residents participated in a variety of interactive, color-themed activities including creating a color wheel, matching colorful scarves to Hodge—Dr. Kemeny’s therapy dog—through a question-and-answer game, and spinning the wheel before tossing a ball for some lighthearted fun.
It was wonderful to see the smiles, laughter, and meaningful connections shared throughout the day. Thank you to the students and Hodge for bringing such great energy, comfort, and joy to our community! 💛
