The leadership teams from INTEGRIS Health Miami and Grove hospitals recently came together to support the Community Crisis Center, northeast Oklahoma’s domestic violence shelter. Through a donation drive, leaders collected and delivered much-needed items to help individuals and families seeking safety and support.

During the visit, Kelsey Samuels, executive director, and Courtney Jaquis, director of client services, also provided important education for our leaders on domestic violence and human trafficking, helping us better understand how we can support survivors in our communities.

The Community Crisis Center provides a wide range of vital services, including:
24/7 emergency shelter
Hospital response for sexual assault exams
Advocacy and safety planning
Protective order assistance and court accompaniment
Counseling referrals and support groups
Transitional housing and economic empowerment services
Children’s advocacy and prevention education

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, and its impact is often felt most deeply in rural communities. INTEGRIS Health is raising awareness about the unique challenges rural residents face when it comes to heart health and reinforcing its commitment to improving access to high-quality cardiovascular care across Oklahoma.

Residents in rural areas are more likely to experience risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and limited access to preventive care. Geographic distance, fewer health care resources and delayed treatment can contribute to poorer outcomes for patients experiencing heart-related conditions.

“Early detection, education and timely access to care can save lives,” says Thomas Kamumo, PA-C, with INTEGRIS Health Medical Group in Miami. “In rural communities, barriers to care can make it harder for patients to recognize symptoms and receive treatment quickly. That’s why community-based outreach and local access to services are so important.”

INTEGRIS Health addresses these challenges through its local hospitals and care teams by expanding preventive screenings, educating patients and coordinating care close to home. The INTEGRIS Health Grove Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary would like to invite the community to enjoy a warm bowl of soup for a good cause during its upcoming Souper Bowl Saturday fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at INTEGRIS Health Grove Hospital. This flavorful event will feature a large assortment of homemade soups prepared by Grand Lake’s best chefs—our dedicated volunteers.

What: Souper Bowl Saturday Fundraiser
When: Saturday, Feb. 7 | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Soup service begins at 11 a.m., and, in addition to the fundraiser, INTEGRIS Health Grove Hospital will offer free health screenings during the event, including:

• Heart rate and oxygen saturation
• Height, weight and BMI
• Cardiology screening
• EKG
• Cholesterol and glucose screenings (available to the first 100 guests)
• HeartScan screenings will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis for $50 each

All proceeds from Souper Bowl Saturday benefit the INTEGRIS Health Grove Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and support programs and services that enhance patient care, purchase vital equipment and improve the overall patient and visitor experience at the hospital.
