As we move through the holidays and the year draws to a close, it can help to remember that this time of year may place extra demand on the visual system. Bright lights, busy environments, travel, and long days can feel like a lot. If things begin to feel overwhelming, these few gentle reminders may help:

• Wear the lenses or filters that support you in bright or busy settings
• When your surroundings feel visually busy, find a calm focal point to rest your eyes on briefly
• Take short breaks from screens and give your eyes time to rest

Most importantly, permit yourself to spend your time in spaces and with people that help you feel safe and supported, even if that means choosing environments that feel easier on your eyes and mind.

From all of us at the Padula Institute of Vision, we wish you comfort and rest during the holidays.

A comprehensive visual exam goes far beyond eyesight. We assess how your brain and eyes work together, how you process space, how you respond to motion and light, and how your system supports posture and balance. Each part of the evaluation gives us a piece of the picture. Together, they help us understand your lived experience and guide a plan that supports your system. You’re not alone in what you’re feeling. There is a path toward clarity, comfort, and confidence in daily life. 💙

If the holidays feel more difficult on your vision than usual, your eyes and brain may be asking for support. We have a few suggestions of simple changes that can make a big difference:

• Slow down when moving between bright and dim environments
• Minimize visual clutter when possible
• Take a brief visual break if stores or crowds feel overwhelming
• Use the lenses or strategies your doctor recommended

If these signs persist, it may be time for a neuro-visual assessment. Our team can help identify what your visual system is struggling with and create a plan that brings comfort and stability back into your day-to-day life.💙

Vision is a brain function, not just an eye issue. Nearly sixty percent of the brain helps process what we see, so after a stroke, concussion, or TBI, vision can change in ways that are often confusing and unexpected. Many people begin to struggle with reading, balance, depth perception, walking straight, or tolerating busy environments. These symptoms are real, and are often missed in a routine eye exam because the issue is in the brain, not the eyes.

At the Padula Institute of Vision, we specialize in evaluating how the eyes and brain work together. Our neuro visual evaluation looks beyond standard eyesight and helps identify the changes that commonly occur after neurological injury. There is help and there is hope. If you or someone you love is experiencing lingering symptoms after a stroke or TBI, we are here to support you on the path to recovery
