When Acne Becomes an Infection

Most acne is mild and manageable — but sometimes it can turn into something more serious.

Here’s how to tell the difference:

🔴 Normal Acne:
• Small pimples or whiteheads
• Mild redness
• Minimal tenderness

🚨 Possible Infection:
• Increasing redness or swelling
• Warmth around the area
• Severe pain
• Pus that continues to drain
• Spreading redness
• Fever

Infected acne can sometimes turn into an abscess and may require drainage or antibiotics.

❗ Avoid squeezing or picking — this increases the risk of infection and scarring.
