It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Hart Meyrich, our longtime billing manager and member of the Wild Thistle Therapy team.

Hart has been with us for the past four years and was truly the backbone of our billing operations. He was passionate about helping clinicians in Florida advocate for themselves and their clients, and he never hesitated to go to bat against the “big bad insurance companies” on our behalf.

Beyond his professional brilliance, Hart was funny, charming, and brought warmth and wit to every interaction. His presence made work lighter, and his absence will be felt deeply.

Our hearts and prayers are with Hart’s friends and family during this difficult time.

Christina is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified EMDR Therapist with advanced training in trauma-informed care, couples therapy, and Christian counseling. She brings warmth, clinical excellence, and years of experience working with children, teens, and adults.

Christina is currently accepting cash-pay clients while in the process of credentialing with insurance panels.

ℹ️🌿 SOMATIC FLASHBACKS AND TRAUMA: HOW YOUR BODY HOLDS ON TO PAINFUL MEMORIES |

When something painful happens to us, and we feel intense emotions, the experience is a full body response. Hormones are released, our respiratory and cardiac functions change, and our circulatory system prepares for action. When the event challenges our ability to cope, our system can be overwhelmed. As a result, the memory is stored in fragments in our brain. But our bodies also carry a memory of the trauma.

If the event is so overpowering we can’t deal with it, or worse we push it down, the trauma can be stuck in our brain and body. This may result in increased mental and physical health symptoms. Researchers have found a correlation between negative events in childhood and lifelong increased risk for mental and physical health difficulties.
