March 10, 2025 will always be a day that lives in the hearts of every member of our team and many first responders we consider our extended family. Our team suffered the tragic loss of Dustin Pope, Jakob Kindt, and Cal Wesolowski. Every member of our team feels the weight of that loss every day. They were 3 good men doing what they were called to do and paid the ultimate price of a public servant. Today, 1 year later, we honor our brothers through our precious memories of them. To the families who were most affected, we stand with you today and will mourn with you always. They will forever be remembered for the men they were and the lives they touched. Great job to all entities involved!

One thing many people don’t always get to see is how much teamwork happens on scenes when caring for a patient in the field. Patient care is rarely just one agency responding — it takes coordination, communication, and trust between multiple groups all working toward the same goal.

From dispatchers gathering critical information and guiding resources, to law enforcement helping secure scenes, to fire departments providing rescue, stabilization, and manpower, and EMS delivering medical care and transport — every role is vital. Hospitals and specialty teams then continue that care, creating a seamless chain focused entirely on the patient’s outcome.

It’s a powerful reminder that emergency care is never a solo effort. It takes collaboration, professionalism, and mutual respect between agencies to provide safe, effective care when people need it most. Rescue 5 is grateful to be part of a system where so many dedicated individuals come together to serve our communities every single day.

Pafford EMS Ambulance Transporting Patient on I-55 Hit Head-On

WESSON, MS - [February 6, 2026] – Pafford EMS is heartbroken to confirm that one of our ambulances was involved in a serious crash last night on I-55 near Wesson, MS. The ambulance was traveling northbound and had two crew members on board, both of whom are currently in critical condition. They have both been flown to the nearest trauma center.

Unfortunately, we also received the heartbreaking news that the patient being transported in the ambulance was pronounced deceased at the scene. We are unsure of the condition of the driver who struck us head-on.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is the lead investigative agency for this tragic crash.

As we navigate through this difficult time, we ask for your compassion and to join us in praying for everyone affected. Our top priority remains the safety and full recovery of our crew members, and we are committed to supporting them in every way possible during their recovery journey.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all emergency services that promptly responded to this incident. Their support was invaluable in managing the situation. Thank you for everything you have done for these four patients tonight.
