💩 When “Full of Sh*t” Isn’t a Metaphor

This CT scan shows an extreme case of fecal impaction — the colon (large intestine) is massively distended and packed with stool and trapped gas. In radiology, we call this fecal loading or severe constipation with colonic distention.

If left untreated, this can lead to bowel perforation, infection, or even sepsis. Common causes include:
• Chronic constipation or dehydration
• Opioid use
• Neurologic disorders (spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s, etc.)
• Poor mobility or diet low in fiber

🧠 Fun fact: The average colon can hold several pounds of stool before symptoms become dangerous.
🩺 Treatment: Manual disimpaction, enemas, and sometimes surgical intervention if obstruction or perforation occurs.

Sometimes the phrase “ full of sh*t” turns out to be radiologically accurate.
