A Great Need for a Great Family
This family is in great need of our help. Brandi Shearer and her daughters have experienced so much trauma in their home over the last 4 years. Her daughter Mercy says, “The walls of this house are full of tear soaked memories.”
When Brandi was just 20, she and her then husband took in her niece Kari, whom the couple later adopted. They began filling their home with foster children and had a special heart for medically fragile children or older children whom nobody wanted. Over 6 years the Shearer family fostered 36 children and adopted four of them, which gave them 6 daughters total. Three daughters still live at home - Chyanne (17), Mercy (14), and Gracie (9).
Brandi’s life turned traumatic shortly after her daughter Kari turned 15. Kari started having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy and mental health issues. Along with the diagnosis came physical and mental destruction in the Shearer home. Kari’s outbursts became so dangerous that Brandi and the other children’s lives were at risk. KFOR News Channel 4 ran a story on Brandi’s situation and was able to help secure safer housing for Kari.
Shortly after the story ran, Brandi’s marriage fell apart which left her with a wake of financial devastation and a home in dire need of repairs. For years now, Brandi has lived in a home that is a daily reminder of stress and grief.
Brandi shared this, “my biggest stress in life is my home. It causes stress and sadness for us all. I want to provide a beautiful and calm place for our family to heal but can’t right now, and that makes me feel like a failure as a single mother. I see all the repairs that need to be done but feel helpless when it comes to fixing them. I want my my daughters to have a home they are proud of and want to invite friends to. Your services would give us a new beginning and my heart could rest and find joy as the Lord continues to heal my broken spirit”.
Brandi’s trailer home needs extensive work. Her makeover will be our most challenging project to date! Her needs go far beyond paint, patchwork, and decorations. They include sewer work, electrical work, carpentry and trim work, window repair, flooring, appliance repair and yard work just to name a few.
Brandi has dedicated her life to loving and caring for children that others wouldn’t. It’s her turn to be cared for. Brandi needs a space where she and her daughters can find rest, healing and hope as they move forward. With your help, we can provide it.
