Our friend, Ben Hoksch produces this lovely selection of sweetness…

Ben operates a community driven maple syrup operation in Elkader. He partners with the local school and landowners to tap trees and collect maple sap to boil down into maple syrup. It's as grassroots of an operation as you can have.

This year Ben has 120 taps located at 30 houses throughout town.

The Apple Cider Syrup is a great addition to marinades & one of my favorite ingredients to add to homemade granola… It caramelizes so nice! 😋

💃🏼Hope you got your dancing shoes shined up…
The Annual Guttenberg Firemen’s Dance is tonight at Lakeside Ballroom.

Guttenberg has a volunteer fire department that is unique- they cover the usual house & grass fires, help with traffic rescues, AND ARE TRAINED in water rescue due to our lovely location on the mighty Mississippi 🌊

My husband, Jason served on the fire department for 19 years… so I know first hand how much time these men & women clock in on training and making sure their equipment is tip top shape to hop in a go to come help the rest of us out…

And all volunteer hours!

Whether you come to the dance, buy some raffle tickets or make a donation… all this support goes to support our community in times of need.

✨Personal share: As a Junior in HS, my family had a total loss of a house fire- a month before Christmas. We lived in the country outside of Woodward, IA /Perry, IA area. Our local volunteer fire department was first on the scene & did what they could - but it was a loss.

Bless these humans that feel called to help us in some of the most tragic moments in a person life 🙏💕
