⚾️ Pitcher Rehab ⚾️

Here’s a quick glimpse into a session with a collegiate pitcher dealing with a shoulder issue.

1) I love the deceleration drill to challenge the shoulder complex. We always think of training to throw faster, but what about the back side of the shoulder that needs to slow your arm down after release

2) Using cable work to train the same musculature. I like the split stance to try and replicate more of a throwing pattern

3 and 4) Simple progressive overload of the external rotators, mid trap and rhomboids

Send this to a baseball player who needs to take care of their throwing shoulder ⚾️

Here is another great example of a LATERAL movement pattern that many of us could benefit from!

🏋️ The lateral lunge can be done many ways but a Landmine set up allows us to easy load and scale this movement as we get stronger.

🏀 This is awesome for working on the lateral movement for activities like cutting and shuffling in sports

🧘but you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from this. EVERYONE should be moving in multiple directions and exposing your body to these patterns

Lateral Movement plays a huge role in athletics, yet it's often overlooked in training 🤔

The Landmine Curtsy Lunge is a great exercise to enhance lateral movement patterns, build strength and improve mobility 🦵🏼

Incorporate this into your routine for 3 sets of 12 reps and gradually increase your capacity and performance ⚽️

Let’s fix those PINCHY HIPS!

I hear this complaint sooooo often when my patients come in and we look at their squat

Now I’m not saying this is the ONLY reason you may feel this, but it is very COMMON

So many people are stuck in an anterior pelvic tilt because of tight hips flexors and lower backs along with weak flutes and core musculature

So this drags our pelvis forward and when we go to squat our hip has no more space to get into flexion

The solution? Get your dam pelvis in the right position before you squat!

Just try that out and see if you notice a difference

*a wider and tied out set up also helps a lot*

Renegade Rows

I really enjoy programming these toward the end of a workout. Especially on a pull day, back day or shoulder day.

They’re such a dynamic movement that you could make a few arguments for “what does this work most?”

Obviously it’s a pull movement so you’re primarily getting lat engagement. I love the demand it places on the shoulder joint to stabilize your weight. And it will absolutely smoke your core after a while if you’re maintaining that solid neutral position.

Aim for 3 rounds of AMAP. You can mess around with light or heavy weight on these

Bulletproof Your Shoulders 🔥

Build A Strong Lower Back 🧱

“I hurt my lower back so I stopped lifting a few months ago”

This is the worst thing you can do! I see it so often, people get hurt and just completely stop moving.

You don’t need to max out deadlifting but you certainly shouldn’t stop all activity or lifting. Our body needs movement and stress. You just need to find the right balance between these

My goal as a PT is to always get my patients back to lifting and enjoying life. My job is to find the right path to get you out of pain and bulletproof you from future injuries!

I had an awesome experience with our Meet The Doc event at .fortlee on Monday!

I’m so glad I got to meet a bunch of the members and staff of the gym, and help them out.

We went through a 10-15 minute assessment then provided some treatment and exercises that they could start incorporating into their routines immediately!

We all deal with aches and pains when we’re training hard. But they don’t have to hold us back. We just need to learn how to solve them so we can become the best version of ourselves going forward!

These are one of the best exercises out there to train your hamstrings. You’ve probably heard of them at this point and seen all the research supporting their utilization.

Well, follow along with this video to understand how to set it up and then perform them on your own. We even discussed how to regress it if you find the standard version too difficult!
