Let's stay ahead of skin changes this November! 🍂 Cooler weather means cozy sweaters — but it also means your skin might be out of sight, and out of mind. This month, take a moment to check in with your skin health. A self-exam takes just a few minutes and can help you catch something early.

Look for:
• New or changing moles or spots
• Rough patches or sores that don’t heal
• Areas that itch, bleed, or feel tender

💡 Tip: Use good lighting and a mirror — and don’t skip hidden areas like your scalp, back, and feet.

If something seems off, schedule a dermatologist visit. Early checks = early detection. 👩🏻‍⚕️

As the weather turns cooler and drier, many people experience dry, irritated skin. Hot indoor heating and long showers can make it worse.

Keep your skin soft and protected:
💧 Switch to a heavier cream or ointment, especially at night, to lock in hydration.
💧 Moisturize after washing your hands or showering.
💧 Take short, lukewarm showers with gentle, fragrance-free cleansers.
💧 Avoid foaming or alcohol-based products that strip moisture.
💧 Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air.
💧 Don’t skip SPF—UV rays still affect your skin year-round.

If dryness or irritation persists, a dermatologist can help identify the cause and recommend the right treatment plan for your skin. 👩🏻‍⚕️

It’s great weather for a bike ride, but don’t forget your sun protection! ☀️

Before you hit the road, follow these dermatologist-approved tips to keep your skin safe from harmful UV rays:

✅ Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and lip balm with SPF at least 30 minutes before going outside.
✅ Don’t miss often-forgotten spots — the back of your neck, tops of your ears, and backs of your legs.
✅ Reapply every 2 hours (or more often if you’re sweating).
✅ Gear up with UV-protective sunglasses, UPF bike clothing, and a helmet with a visor or cycling cap.
✅ Plan your ride for early morning or evening hours to avoid the peak sun and choose a shaded path whenever possible!

Wherever you’re cycling, enjoy the ride safely and protect your skin! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Old or poorly stored makeup—especially cream-based products like mascara, eyeliner, and lip gloss—can harbor bacteria, fungi, and mold, leading to breakouts or even eye infections.

Protect your skin with these simple habits:
1️⃣ Store smart: Keep makeup in a cool, dry place—never a humid bathroom or hot car.
2️⃣ Check expiration dates: Toss anything that’s expired or looks or smells off.
3️⃣ Don’t share: Sharing makeup can spread bacteria and eye infections.
4️⃣ Clean your tools: Wash brushes every 7–10 days with lukewarm water and gentle cleanser; dry flat on a towel.
5️⃣ Remove makeup nightly: Prevent clogged pores and irritation by cleansing before bed.

Small hygiene habits make a big difference in skin health. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Working out is great for your body and mind — but it can also expose your skin to bacteria, fungi, and other germs that thrive in warm, moist gym environments. To protect your skin, follow these tips:

1️⃣ Choose loose, moisture-wicking clothing to keep skin dry.
2️⃣ Use a clean towel to gently blot sweat — don’t rub.
3️⃣ Wipe down gym equipment before and after use.
4️⃣ Bring your own yoga mat whenever possible.
5️⃣ Always wear flip-flops or shower shoes in locker rooms or by the pool.
6️⃣ Shower right after your workout and change into clean clothes. Apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp to lock in hydration.
7️⃣ For acne-prone skin, wash with a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser.
8️⃣ Never share razors, towels, or skincare products.
9️⃣ Empty and wash your gym bag essentials daily.
🔟 Alternate sneakers to let them dry between workouts.

Stay safe, stay healthy! Thanks to American Academy of Dermatology for inspiring this list! 👩🏻‍⚕️
