Acne can occur at any age. Advances in treatment have significantly improved outcomes. New topical therapies are helping treat acne, and oral medications can offer marked improvement as well. Because acne can affect self-esteem and quality of life, it’s important to seek care early.

Our providers have years of experience treating acne and tailoring treatment plans to each patient’s needs. If your teen is struggling with acne, social media advice and trendy creams can be confusing — and using something too harsh can make acne worse. Seeing one of our licensed dermatologists or our PA is the best first step.

They can:
✨ Assess yours or your teen’s skin
✨ Create a personalized treatment plan
✨ Provide stronger, more effective solutions than OTC products

Early treatment helps improve your skin's health and appearance and prevent long-term scarring. Book an appointment online today. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Healthy lips are part of healthy skin — and they deserve year-round care, not just when they feel dry. Here are dermatologist-approved ways to show your lips some love:

👄 Use a lip balm with SPF 30+ when spending time outdoors. Protecting your lips from the sun is important in every season.

👄 Apply lip balm in the morning, before going outside, after eating and drinking, and before bed. Keep one with you so it’s easy to reapply throughout the day.

👄 Choose gentle, ointment-based products with ingredients like ceramides, petrolatum (petroleum jelly), dimethicone, mineral oil, or glycerin to help seal in moisture and support the skin barrier.

👄 If you have sensitive skin, select fragrance-free, hypoallergenic lip products and avoid irritating ingredients such as menthol, eucalyptus, and added flavors.

👄 Support hydration by drinking plenty of water and using a humidifier at night, especially when indoor air is dry.

👄 Avoid licking, biting, or picking at your lips — these habits can worsen dryness and slow healing. Hands off.

A little daily care goes a long way. If you’re dealing with persistent dryness, irritation, or cracking, your dermatologist can help guide you toward the best products for your skin. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Tips for Skiers: Protect Your Skin This Winter ❄️

You may think of sunscreen as a summer essential, but sun protection is just as important while skiing. Snow reflects harmful UV rays, and higher altitude increases UV exposure.

🎿 Prep before hitting the slopes:
• Wear warm layers, a UPF balaclava, a helmet, and UV-blocking goggles
• About 30 minutes before going outside, apply a moisturizer first to prevent dry skin, then layer a broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30+ sunscreen on top
• Apply lip balm with SPF

🎿 Plan ahead:
• Bring travel-size sunscreen and lip balm to reapply at least every 2 hours
• Avoid peak UV hours (10AM–2PM) when possible

🎿 After your ski day:
• Add a wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses for extra protection
• Clean goggles and helmet daily with a wipe to help prevent skin irritation
• Apply cream if your skin or hands are dry

Winter sun is still sun—protect your skin on and off the slopes. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Cold weather can be harsh on your hands. 👎🏻 Here are dermatologist-recommended tips to help prevent dry, cracked skin this winter:

• Use lukewarm water and a gentle soap when washing your hands.
• After washing, apply a hand cream or ointment (rather than lotion) to your hands and nails while skin is still slightly damp to help lock in moisture.
• If your soap is irritating or drying, switch to a gentler, fragrance-free option.
• When skin is already dry or irritated, it’s better to wash with soap and water instead of using alcohol-based hand sanitizer, which can be very drying.
• If your skin remains dry or uncomfortable, schedule a visit with one of our dermatology providers for an evaluation and personalized treatment plan.

Healthy skin starts with the right daily habits 🫰🏻 — especially in the winter months. 👩🏻‍⚕️
