We did a thing today—and it felt like a big one.

For years, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with districts in so many ways—keynotes, full staff trainings, and deep systems-level work alongside I&RS teams, administrators, and educators.

And almost everywhere we go, we hear a version of the same question: “Where can we send a few people if we’re not able to bring you in?”

We’ve been saying for a while that we’d create something…a space to learn, think, and grow together.

Today, we finally did.

We hosted our first annual in-house Raising Brains Conference—and I’m still taking it all in. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up, leaned in, and shared such thoughtful, positive feedback.
If I’m honest, I was nervous. Putting something like this out into the world comes with a lot of unknowns.

But today reminded me that when the work is meaningful—and when it’s grounded in real classrooms, real challenges, and real people—it connects.

I’m so proud of what we built, and even more grateful to be doing this work alongside .

If you were there, thank you. Truly.

And if you’ve been sitting with an idea, wondering if you should take the leap—this is your sign. It’s worth it.

We had the BEST time hanging out with our K–5 students! 🧠✨
Our version of “Meet the Author” is a little different… instead of just talking about a book, we talk about your brain — and introduce you to some very important brainy friends along the way (looking at you, Fronnie, Amy G, Hip, and Mr. BG 👀).
Turns out learning about your brain is pretty awesome… especially when the brain characters crash the party.
Thanks so much for having me — we had a blast! 💥

Big thanks to the Morris County Directors for having us last Friday! We shared our research over the last few years and how educators can identify and teach the exact skills students need, using our four research-based categories. When we look beyond the outbursts, shutdowns, or chaos, we find missing skills—not bad kids.

By teaching students how to recognize their feelings, regulate emotions, and “be a student,” we’re not just managing behavior… we’re raising brains. 🧠✨

🧠✍️ Big brains & bright minds!
Dr. Sarah had an amazing time hanging out with some truly gifted & talented students in Woodbridge last week! They dove into what it’s like to be an author, a doctor, and explored all the cool things our brains can do. 🧠💡
Let’s just say… the future is in very good hands.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Woodbridge — can’t wait to visit again soon! 💫📚

💥 Dr. Sarah delivered an exceptional presentation that combined humor (🤣) with practical wisdom for PreK educators. Her ability to break down "complex information into bite sized chunks that we can use in our classrooms" made the session both informative and immediately applicable 🧠. "She spoke with us not at us," creating a relatable experience that left attendees eager to implement her techniques and requesting "to have her back for PD in the future."

We cannot wait to see Stafford again! The district sure is lucky to have such amazing staff!! 🫶🏼

Are you on our email list? February’s “Raising Brains” 🧠 newsletter is all about PD (Professional Development). It’s a good thing when the RAISING BRAINS team is involved! 💪🏼 Dr. Sarah and her team conduct engaging programs that garner rave reviews! Here’s a few comments from teachers who have attended!

With screen time, our visual centers can be enhanced in the areas of the brain related to fine motor skills can actually increase. Certain aspects of problem-solving can improve too. It can help with engagement, motivation, and learning when introducing tablets to the classroom.

The real issue has been with kids and teens who:

1) watch extended amounts of television (more than a couple hours a day)
2) become addicted to electronic devices
3) watch violent content

At its foundation, effective parenting is mindful parenting. When parents and teachers mindfully work to teach emotional, behavioral, and cognitive control in an emotionally supportive, deliberate manner, kids are set up for success. The point is it takes brain power to come up with your own parenting philosophy and it takes practice to develop
your parenting skills.

While I fully support parents practicing mindful parenting, I prefer a different term. Mindful meddling is a more descriptive term for what I teach parents in my coaching practice. Because if you’re anything like me, there’s no way that you’re going to just lay back and let the world completely take over. You’re going to meddle. I happen to be a meddling pro. And meddling is okay. It’s actually extremely
beneficial when done with some balance.

We can help with the first one! ✔️

Raising brains is a common-sense strategy for applying the exciting field of brain development and neuropsychology to daily, practical parenting tasks. The point is for parents to look at their children through a different lens.

Moms and Dads can understand their own brains better as they work to raise happy, successful, fun, and connected children.
