what’s your body asking for today?? we don’t have to do the same movement every day. often we get stuck in a wheel of moving out of obligation, instead of asking our body what they want to do. you may have a strong vinyasa practice but today your body’s asking for yin- or vice versa. maybe it’s not physical movement today and your body is asking for breathwork (duh 😆) …

the message here is …meet yourself where you are. tune into that beautiful body and listen. when you start this practice, shift happens in the best way 🤯

BREATHWORK IMMERSION (2 weeks)

we’ll meet in person for the FIRST and LAST class to come together as a group and share and set intentions. all other classes in between will be virtual, 20 minute sessions.

when you’re menstruating- it is not an absolute contraindication to get mld when menstruating AND
my professional thought and feeling is to let the body work its healing magic first, I’ll bring the lymph drainage magic second.

people come in all the time on their cycle, and usually when they do they specifically have little to know symptoms. some things to consider if you’re not sure…

inflammation, hormonal changes, pain, fluid retention- the gangs all here for this very natural and sometimes difficult cycle in the body.

PAIN** lymph drainage treatments absolutely help alleviate pain- if cramping is unbearable these treatments can work wonders.

BLOATING/FLUID RETENTION** sure lymph drainage can help. but remember the body is in a heightened state of inflammation- alleviating this symptom is usually very short lived during your cycle. for this specific symptom, I would schedule your treatment AFTER your cycle for the longer lasting relief.

the idea of letting this cycle play out in the body during its peak energetic flow is where I’m at with do or don’t get a lymphatic drainage treatment while menstruating…

best to just let her finish 😉

Feels like a good time to reintroduce myself…

Hey, I’m Sheila. I opened Remedy Body & Breathwork in 2023. This has been a journey for sure, I have been slowly building this for 18 years- gone down many paths all peaked by my interests that have changed, so. many. times. Remedy is a lot of things - It’s a collection of interests that turned to deep study that turned into obsessive passions and eventually my life’s work.

At Remedy there is bodywork (I’m a Massage Therapist and Lymphatic Drainage Therapist) I’m very interested in lymphatic system function - how stress, inflammation and weakened immune health effect this delicately strong system in the body.

*My current deep dive and obsessive study: lymph system disfunction with auto immune diseases, and women dealing with hormonal imbalances, perimenopause, menopause symptoms that doctors casually dismiss.*

Lymphatic bodywork sessions with me consider everything, including fascia. Years of study with Rolfers (Advanced Myofasical Release) have given me a lot to consider with how much fascia is at play with lymphatic system disfunction. It’s something I always address in lymphatic drainage sessions.

Remedy is also a studio for group meditation and yoga classes. Fun fact: I was not planning on opening a yoga studio. The studio space was for me to offer group breathwork classes and maybe one yoga class a week, simply because I missed teaching. Before I knew it all of the these amazing yoga teachers showed up, asking to teach here. And there you have it. Remedy is a breathwork, meditation and yoga studio. Ways to move your body, connect with your breath and connect with yourself.

The breathwork is why I’m here, it’s why I put it on the sign. If you want to finally address your physical pain, the emotional blocks and experience what peace feels like in your body… it’s breathwork. Every time. This is the missing piece.

Finally, Remedy is a community of beautiful humans that come here to heal, feel, laugh, cry and find some meaningful connection in a chaotic world.

🌕 Imbolc coincides with a snow moon this year- the full moon in February that marks the peak of winter.

🔥 At this point in the season the bodies energetic landscape has a natural instinct and desire to slow down, reflect and go deep- and it’s important that we listen to this. We tend to the soil differently in these powerfully slower months. Deep clearings in the physical and mental sense prepare us for the coming shift of seasons.

CLEAR and PREPARE- this is the work.

how I got here PART 2

left the big job. renting a room in a salon suite, doing my lymphatic massage thing… enter breathwork 🙃

if I knew how massive this training/breathwork experience was going to be I might have gotten in my own way, resisted and never did it. we do that. we’re constantly refining, preparing and telling ourselves we’re ready instead of being present and open to moments and experiences that are right in front of us.

this training blasted my heart open. I met life long friends, was reminded I’m not alone. oh! and some of my angels and guides came through. and when they talk to you and give you a message…TRY and not listen 😆 this is not an option. you feel it in your heart, your body, your soul.

🤷‍♀️ this is what happened. and everything just came together like it was always going to. trust and love are necessary here. and if you know me, you know that’s all I got ❤️‍🔥

If I can reach one person with this work, that’s good enough for me and that’s what i’m here for.

How I got here PART 1

DO THE WORK. start small, just keep going.

bringing short breathwork meditations into my life changed things quickly and unexpectedly in small, powerful ways.

I wasn’t having massive breathwork experiences doing these at home every day. but something was shifting. I could feel the energy in my body, some warmth in my heart. and I started to feel calm. my anxiety lessened. energy was moving and I moved with it.

the fear that tripped me up daily and convinced me to stay small disappeared. the dreaded risk of leaving my very comfortable job, all of the sudden I was eager to READY to leave. and I did it with zero doubt.

what came next i could have never imagined 🤯

breathwork, yoga, hiking, cold dips, sauna, ecstatic dance, chanting…

naturally, the colder months evoke a desire to slow down and go inward. we tend to move with more intention in these contemplative seasons. in a way, we’re more primed to go deep, go within and move some energy.

we’ll do that here. we’ll work with the physical vessel- nurture the body with good food, some healing practices, freeing movement. we’ll work with the energetic body- opportunities to open the heart, heal and find some freedom and ease. and we’ll do all of this together in a loving, supportive, safe space.

all of the practices that we’ll experience at this retreat are rituals/practices that Jackie and I do daily. we’re on a healing journey too, figuring it out just like everyone else. but we can only go as far as we’ve gone. which is why we’ll never stop learning, keep going, so we can share it with the world ❤️‍🔥
