Things we wouldn’t do for our health, even as practitioners. Not because these things are always bad, but because context matters.

Parasite detox’s can be helpful for the right person, but jumping into a random cleanse without understanding your gut health first can something make things worse.

Bloodwork is incredibly valuable, but one annual lab panel doesn’t always tell the full story, especially when you’re experiencing symptoms. Hormones, inflammation, nutrients, and metabolic makers can shift throughout the year.

In functional and integrative care, we try and could on intentional testing, personalized protocols, and understanding the root cause of symptoms. Health isn’t one size fits all.

Curious what else practitioners think differently about? 👀

Low mood in men doesn’t always look like sadness.

Sometimes it shows up as irritability, fatigue, emotional numbness, or withdrawal.

Mental health is complex, and the brain doesn’t function separately from the rest of the body.

Sleep, stress, hormones, nutrition, and gut health can all influence mood and emotional regulation.

Supporting the body can be an important part of supporting the mind.

For years I told myself I would relax after the next milestone( high achieving individuals please enter the chat lol)

But I eventually learned that the nervous system doesn’t run on achievement, or liked being told “just after this next thing”. Instead my chronic stress showed up in my body as POTS, gut issues, mineral depletion, so many sicknesses & more. My body was stuck in “go mode”.

My healing didn’t come from pushing harder or finding one magic solution. It came from changing how I lived. I had to learn how to support my nervous system, rebuild my nutrition, regulate stress, slow down my pace of life, & listening to my body. And the truth is, healing isn’t a quick destination. It’s a lifestyle that I commit to every single day so my body never goes back to that place again!

Main takeaway, the body will always ask for balance eventually and learning how to support it changed everything.

Coffee isn’t the villain here, but caffeine increases your stress hormones (cortisol, adrenaline).

So if you haven’t eaten, hydrated, or regulated your system first it can feel like gasoline on a fire.

Your body doesn’t know the difference between, caffeine, stress, and an actual threat.

Support before stimulation,always.

We often reduce the nervous system to fight or flight. But it’s a regulatory system. It influences digestion, hormone signaling, immune tone, circulation, intimacy, and your ability to feel safe. Different states create different biological outputs. When we understand the state that the body is living in,symptoms start to make more sense. Health feels less confusing when you understand the system behind it.

Health isn’t a single layer issue. Protein is foundational, but your needs depend on your physiology, nervous system state, activity level, and healing capacity.

Before chasing a number from TikTok, calculate based on your body weight (g/kg) and track what you’re currently eating. Awareness alwaysss helps overwhelm.

If you want help calculating your range, needs, and more, schedule a consultation with one of our practitioners today!

Your nervous system deserves support before stimulation.

Coffee isn’t the villain.Butttt drinking it on an empty, dehydrated, already-stressed body can feel like gasoline on a fire.

Grounding Coffee isn’t just a recipe it’s a strategy.
It looks like adding fat & minerals to buffer the caffeine, eating before your first cup, hydrating before stimulation, timing it strategically, knowing your individual tolerance.

Foundational health is about regulation, not restriction.

You don’t need to quit coffee.
You might just need to drink it differently.

Save this for your next morning.

Anxiety isn’t purely biochemical. And it isn’t purely environmental. It’s interactive (both are interrelated).

Neurotransmitters.
Inflammation.
Blood sugar.
Hormones.
Stress exposure.
Trauma history.
Sleep.
Safety.

All influence the nervous system. When we approach anxiety from a single layer, we miss the bigger picture. Regulation requires addressing both emotions physiology and environment.

That’s integrative care.

Everyone talks about protein. Very few people talk about fiber.

Protein builds tissue,fiber supports regulation.

Adequate fiber intake is associated with:
Greater micro biome diversity
Improved blood sugar regulation
Increased satiety hormones ( GLP-1 & PYY)
Lower LDL cholesterol
More efficient elimination of metabolized hormones

Most adults need 25-35g of fiber a day minimally, most people get half of that.

So if you’re hitting your protein goals but still dealing with cravings, bloating, blood sugar crashes, sluggish digestion, it may be worth looking at your fiber intake.

Foundational health isn’t flashy, it’s regulated.

If you’re always in “go mode”, your body stays in stress chemistry. That means ongoing production of cortisol, adrenaline, norepinephrine, and glucose which are all designed to help you survive.

But when there’s no pause, there’s no shift into repair.
