It’s about that time y’all! Come join us for another “You, Me, Poundcake & Tea” event! This time the topic of the workshop will be on Black Women, Motherhood & Maternal Health. According to the CDC, statistics show that “Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women. Multiple factors contribute to these disparities, such as variation in quality healthcare and underlying chronic conditions. Social determinants of health prevent many women from racial and ethnic minority groups from having fair opportunities for economic, physical, and emotional health”. And this is just in the US. Because of these scary truths, Black women are forced to navigate their feminine and maternal care with significant anxiety, fear and apprehension. And what’s worse- many are forced to do it alone.
This is why we have decided to focus this YMPT event on Black maternal health and wellness. To promote community, support, information and resources to Black women, so that they can be empowered and have the things that they need to make healthy, informed decisions about their healthcare and overall wellness.
As always, this workshop is designed to be an intimate, safe space for women to share, learn and eat yummy treats! It will start with time to mingle, transition to the discussion panel, and end with a movement wellness activity! If you want to join us (and I hope that you do!) please click the link in my bio to secure your spot!! And stay tuned for the event menu! 🧁🍩🍵☕️🥰
