“What’s the bottom line? Physical activity to the tune of at least 8,000 steps a day improves life span. More movement means better health.”

According to researchers, people who regularly walk 8,000 steps a day are significantly less likely to die from cardiovascular disease, cancer, or any cause than those who take 4,000 steps or fewer.

Parkway Physical Therapy

At Parkway Physical Therapy, our therapy staff has over 30 years of experience in treatment of spine and extremity disorders. Our focus is on quality care and individual treatment. We have a close working relationship with your physician to coordinate care and ensure optimal results. Our staff will develop a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.

Physical therapy is a conservative approach to spine and joint injury and can also assist individuals to recover and regain function after surgery. Whether you are an athlete, homemaker, work at a computer or perform manual labor, joint pain/injuries are common ailments to all. Approximately 80% of the population will experience lower back pain at some point in their life. Research studies have found that an individual with a prior history of back pain is 3-4 times more likely to redevelop back pain if no formal treatment program is initiated. For this very reason, it is important to understand how postures and activities can affect your pain.

A physical therapist can evaluate range of motion, strength, flexibility, and posture and perform tests to determine the cause of your pain. The therapist can offer insight into proper postures, body mechanics and appropriate exercise to address the problem and help to prevent recurrence. Treatment may also include manual techniques or modalities such as heat, ultrasound or electric stimulation to assist with pain management.
