As the year ends, the gap between what healthcare costs and what people can afford keeps getting wider. We see it every day, patients putting off care, rationing medications and hoping symptoms disappear because the alternative is a bill they can’t take on.
That’s exactly why our clinic exists. Our services are offered at no cost to anyone in Washington County that doesn’t have insurance. Primary care? Free. Medications? Free. Lab work? Free. Counseling? Free.
No insurance hurdles or price hikes. No surprise charges. No one turned away because their budget can’t stretch any farther.
If you’re able, a year end donation helps keep that promise real. It gives someone in our community the chance to walk through the door without worrying about anything except getting the care they need.

Hi everyone! As we head into the winter months, we wanted to give a reminder. In the case of inclement weather, we follow Hagerstown Community College's closings and delays schedule. You can find this information in an orange bar at the top of their website's home page. You can also sign up for their alert system to receive text messages straight to your phone!

If you’ve spent any time in our clinic, you’ve probably crossed paths with our Clinical Director, Debra Grove, RN. She brings 39 years of experience to the job, with a background in school health, and healthcare for women and children. Deb received her degree in nursing from Hagerstown Junior College, now known as Hagerstown Community College.
At the clinic, she splits her time between hands on patient care and the less glamorous but essential director-level leadership work that keeps our programs running safely and smoothly. She’s the person making sure our clinical operations stay organized, our volunteer providers know what’s on the schedule and our patients receive consistent, compassionate care no matter how busy the day gets.
Before joining us, she spent 34 years in pediatric nursing, which probably explains her unflappable ability to stay calm while fixing ten things at once!
When she’s not at the clinic, Deb enjoys scrapbooking, spending time with family and friends, and attending her grandson’s sporting events.
Deb is a lifelong Hagerstown resident, and we’re grateful to have someone who knows the community as well as she knows the clinical side of the job. If you’ve benefited from care here, she’s likely had a hand in making it happen.

Megan has a talent for helping people untangle life’s messiest knots. She’s a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist (LCPAT) with a Master of Arts from The George Washington University. She has specialties/trainings in EMDR and brings compassion without judgement to every appointment.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, or just looking for someone to provide a little clarity in the world, Megan is here to offer steady support when life feels a little too overwhelming.
Her training in talk therapy and art therapy means healing doesn’t have to look just one way. Through words or through creativity, Megan can meet you where you are and get you where you need to go.
Outside the office Megan recharges by creating her own art. She enjoys painting and throwing ceramics on the pottery wheel. You can also find her curled up with her cats and a good book, or spending quality time with her husband and family.
Mental health is part of the healthcare we offer at Community Free Clinic, and we are proud to have Megan on our team, showing up every day to meet the needs of our community.
If you'd like to make an appointment for a session with Megan, call, email or stop by. As with all services offered at the Community Free Clinic, therapy is completely free. No sliding scales, no income requirements, just free, compassionate care for the uninsured of Washington County.
