Becoming a widow, turned my life upside down.
Prior to my marriage, I had been through several relationships that didn’t work out.
I’ve never been one to settle for less, so I left because I knew I deserved better.
I took on the role of being a single mom, not once, but twice.
I don’t regret my choices, because I was able to learn from them and eventually met my soulmate.
Little did I know that our lives together would be cut short, as he was diagnosed with cancer not long after we married.
He treated me like gold.
He was an amazing father to my boys, who he raised as his own.
After he passed, it was back to single mom life.
Yes, I had experienced it before, but this time was different.
We had been a team, and it was time again for me to figure it out all alone.
I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I knew I would figure it out one way or another.
I was a teacher, so my boys’ schedules and mine lined up with holidays and summers.
But I still wondered how I was going to juggle the house, the sports, the meals, the grocery shopping, paying bills, the laundry, etc., all on my own after getting used to sharing the responsibilities.
Whether I liked it or not, I had to make it work, and I wasn’t about to allow this to keep my boys from living their best lives.
So I kept going.
We adjusted to our new lives without Rob.
I’m not gonna lie, it was hard.
As the next few years passed and I continued to teach, my job became more demanding, causing me to have to do more work at home, which took away from my boys.
For the longest time, I figured it was just normal.
I mean, it was to be expected under the circumstances, right?
I told myself it would be okay.
But… there’s always a “but.”
When I came across an opportunity that had the potential to give me my time back, make more than I was making as a teacher, and allow me to work from home, I jumped on it.
Sure, I was skeptical.
People thought I was crazy for taking something else on, as if I wasn’t already busy enough.
People couldn’t believe I’d take out a loan to start a business.
But after my husband passed, I was determined to give my boys the best life possible.
So I took a chance on myself, plugged into the system, stayed close to my mentor, and was able to retire within one year.
So here I am, living the life that some people only dream of, and teaching those who are determined to do whatever it takes to live the life they desire.
