Sometimes we distract ourselves from our life goals, values, commitment, inner force, and direction. We live in an automatic mode, we go with the flow, blindly, or even eyes closed. It doesnāt feel bad until it does. Not that we mean to or force it. But life goes by so fast, demands are high, time is precious, and stimuli are bombarding us. Societyās ideal of happiness appears to be dictated by money, fame, and appearance.
YOLO? (You Only Live Once) Fine. Letās have fun, letās party, and letās not think about tomorrow. But for how long? Then when is it time to focus? Well⦠It is complex to deal with external demands while remaining true to self. This means we should not really shame ourselves or condemn ourselves more than acknowledge the drive to fit in, to feel good about our conception of life and society, and to give ourselves a break with existential concerns.
When we find ourselves forgetting our true identity to fit the mainstream, we make decisions that diverge from who we are, and what we believe, advocate, and take pride in. We surround ourselves with people who appear to fill a void, in time and value. It leaves a sentiment of anxiety, resentment, and discomfort because you are in conflict between your deeper self and the one that fulfills a need but not sufficiently.
You can achieve whatever you want. You have it in you. You do NOT need the image of happiness, the perfect body (even if you may have it!), you donāt need to be popular. You just need to find deeper meaning in your existence. Reconnect with yourself. Acknowledge who you are. Know your resources. Accept your limitations. Be humble. Learn every day. Ask for help. And embrace your inner self. You are worth it. You do not have to please at all costs. When you take care of yourself, thatās when you are your best self, for you and others.
