Incorrect body mechanics can lead to headaches, back pain, and even long term injuries. Whether you’re working from home or still at the office, the mechanics of how you sit are equally important. Here are a few tips to keep you in line:
1. If you are sitting at a computer, your eyes should be in line with the top of your monitor.
2. Make sure your back is supported and your feet are flat on the floor with your shoulders relaxed.
3. If you spend a lot of time on the phone, invest in a headset to prevent too much prolonged bending.
4. When rising from your chair, use your legs rather than your back to lift yourself.
5. Every hour, take a 5-15 minute break to stand, stretch, and walk around.
6. Last but not least, be sure your chair has lumbar support. If it doesn’t, place your towel between your lower back and the chair, and be sure to roll those shoulders back.
