Our Youth Ed team has been traveling all across the state, providing mental health education to students during the first month back!🚗 Recently, we visited Mt. View High School and Jefferson Village School, where we hosted Sources of Strength refresher trainings. 🏀During our time with adult advisors and peer leaders, we all practiced how to spread hope, help, and strength to the rest of their school community. We heard lots of wonderful ideas for campaigns and lots of laughter while playing games!💬Thank you for continuing on with your Sources of Strength mission at your schools.

The start of this back-to-school season, on August 28th, our Youth Ed team worked with North Yarmouth Academy to bring a Youth Mental Health First Aid training to many staff members! 🏫The participants spent the day learning about and practicing how to best support their students by noticing warning signs, having supportive conversations, and connecting them to appropriate mental health resources. Thank you all for being so willing to learn more about being trusted adults and becoming certified Youth Mental Health First Aiders! 🎉

Daylight savings time ends tomorrow morning, here in Maine that can signal the arrival of seasonal changes such as colder weather and earlier sunsets. These seasonal changes can have a big impact on our mental health!

What are some ways that you prioritize your mental health as the seasons change?

Some of our favorites are
🌻Making time for hobbies like crafting, coloring, or journaling
🍁Cooking a warm and cozy meal
🍂Enjoying cold-weather outdoor activities like skiing, snowshoeing, or ice fishing
⛅Checking out www.namimaine.org for mental health tips and resources💙

As Fall is in full swing and mornings are becoming chillier. 🍂Youth Ed thought we should do a little Summer Throwback! 🌞Deanna, Programs Coordinator, had the opportunity to attend Freeport Community Service's Community Day event on August 15th. She had a wonderful time meeting young people and their families in the Freeport community while they prepared to head back to school! Everyone had a chance to practice in "thinking about what makes them happy" while drawing us a picture.✍ Thank you for having us again this year!

🎃 Halloween can be a holiday full of fun tricks and treats, but it can also be a stressful occasion.

Frightening sights and sounds, social engagements and crowds, financial expectations and more can all be stressful factors for both adults and youth alike. This Halloween, remember to be respectful of others, and to prioritize your mental health while enjoying festivities. 💚

Head over to www.namimaine.org for mental health resources, and remember - we are here for you! 🎃
