💥SERIES ALERT!💥 - "In the Life of Speech Therapist, Melannie Joslin" - a peek into the meaningful, messy, and often hilarious world of pediatric speech therapy. 😄

"Actual conversation I had today with my 5-year-old speech friend:

Kiddo (out of nowhere): “my dad is stronger than your dad.”
Me: “uh, no way! My dad is way stronger than your dad!”
Kiddo: “oh yeah? My dad eats healthy foods every day. Does your dad do that?”
Me: *sighs* “no, he does not”
Kiddo: “didn’t think so. I win”

Sorry, pops. Tried to defend your honor 😂" -Melannie

Another fantastic toy drive & pub quiz in the books for Beyond Boundaries! Laughs 😂 were had, trivia brains 🧠 were tested, and toys 🧸 were collected! What a blast this event was! 🎉 These toys will be heading to kids receiving services through Beyond Boundaries who could use a little extra fun and joy. Huge thanks to everyone who played, donated, and brought the fun! 🤗

"The other day I was working on conversational skills with a friend and I asked her “what’s your favorite food?” And she goes “tots” and then I say “awesome! Now it’s your turn to ask me a question” and she fires back with, “Miss Melannie, why are there SO MANY people everywhere???” 😂" -Melannie

⭐️NEW⭐️ to Beyond Boundaries: SLP, Briana Beattie!

"Hello! I am a speech pathologist with 13 years experience in working with individuals across the life span from infants and toddlers all the way to geriatric patients in the hospital setting. I recently moved back to western New York after living in Portland, Oregon, for 10 years. I specialize in childhood language and articulation delays and disorders and enjoy implementing a variety of play, literacy, and routines based techniques in order to help children and parents meet their goals.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking and camping, reading, watching sports, playing soccer, and trying new restaurants. My 2 year old daughter is a constant source of inspiration for therapy activities and reminds me, daily, about the wonderful process of language development early in life. I am looking forward to helping kids and families in the Buffalo/city, West Seneca, Depew, and Cheektowaga areas!"

Welcome, Briana!! 🤗

Recent public statements by federal sources and “influencer” culture have contributed to confusion and fear around vaccines, and Tylenol use during pregnancy. They have also exposed harsher fault lines between the reality of science and evidence, and myths and misinformation that swirl online.

Join local experts and advocates for a virtual discussion about autism. Learn the facts around autism, including what we know and don’t know about its causes and learn about community resources. Make informed decisions based on science, not speculation.

The panelists, guided by Buffalo Toronto Public Media (WBFO) Disabilities Beat Reporter Emyle Watkins, will explore the evidence about false claims about autism, and how such claims may undermine health professional and advocacy efforts. Whether you're a parent, healthcare provider, educator or interested member of the public, you will find tools to navigate these complex health narratives and support informed decision-making.

Don’t miss this opportunity to separate fact from fear and get information directly from trusted voices in medicine and advocacy.
