PACT Gastroenterology Center

PACT Gastroenterology Center Sophisticated medical care, close to home, in a warm and caring environment.

PACT Gastroenterology Center was founded by a group of dedicated physicians who were interested in creating an innovative and progressive medical practice devoted to providing sophisticated, state-of-the-art medical care in a warm and caring environment. The primary focus of the practice has always been to help people and maintain the interest of patients, rather than just treat diseases . The first small office was opened on Prince Street in New Haven in 1997 and over the course of 15 years the practice has evolved dramatically to employ over 130 people throughout the greater New Haven area:

We have added many more physicians and mid-level providers from around the world who possess diverse and comprehensive training and expertise. We have moved our flagship office from downtown New Haven to the Spring Glen Medical Center in Hamden and opened satellite offices in Milford and Guilford for the convenience of our patients. We've built two state-of-the-art endoscopy centers so that our patients have a convenient and cost-effective alternative to hospital-based medical care. We have opened a research center so that our patients can participate in cutting-edge treatment options. We are excited to carry on the principles by which this practice was founded and offer personalized, comprehensive, state-of-the art medical care for our patients. In spite of our substantial growth over the last fifteen years we have maintained a patient-centered approach to medical care and are proud to provide:

to 2018 when my company was the Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut (GCC). We are now part of a larger organization and known as PACT Gastroenterology Center (part of Hartford Healthcare). Our goal is the same - competent, professional and compassionate service for all our patients. 📸
_
Here’s a bit about me:
My practice has a focus on motility disorders
_
Like many, I made it through medical training without much sleep BUT also w/o coffee! 🤯
_
I drink mostly water...all the time though I love matcha green tea lattes (only discovered in the past few years)😄
_
I’m a plant mom. My work office is part green house and my home part nursery 🌱
_
I have three older siblings
_
My sister and I played video games as children. I still play with my 8 and 11 year olds nieces. I only beat them at Wii Dance! 💃🏿
_
I’m from Portland, Jamaica (WI)🇯🇲 And Emigrated to Brooklyn, NY at age 14
_
My only claim to national (Jamaican) fame was when Richie .tait and I were boy and girl of the year in 1988! I will forever be proud of our accomplishment! 🏆
_
I learnt to swim as an adult (just last year in fact😄). I was over sunbathing and determined to do it🏊🏾‍♀️and never have to hear ‘you’re from Jamaican...and can’t swim?!’ Ever again! 🤣
_
Thanks for following along with the me as I share a little of my world!!💙

I wear blue to increase the awareness of this second leading cause of cancer related deaths. can be prevented so remember to get screened, beginning at age 45. Colonoscopy is the gold standard but there are non invasive options available too. Discuss options with your healthcare provider. 💙tshirt design

Have you ever thought “well, here we go again, just when I was thinking my was under control - no form of management seems to work for me!” 💭 If so, this post is for you! 👇
I always explain that IBS can be managed, but that is different than being cured. This means that you likely will experience IBS symptoms at times - BUT the frequency, severity and duration of these symptoms can usually be managed. If you find yourself panicking and feeling helpless with regard to your symptoms 🥴 try these strategies next time you experience a flare-up of symptoms⬇️
🌟Choose foods that you know you tolerate well 🍽 This may mean going back to some basics (temporarily), limiting fat, or limiting foods that you have identified as dietary triggers until your symptoms resolve 🍦🍯🍕🍎🥑
🌟Engage in mindful movement 👟 and proper rest - the key 🔑 is listening to your body 👂 Many people find that high intensity activity (running, boot camps) exacerbates symptoms and low impact, low intensity activity (walking, yoga, barre, pilates, bike riding) can help to alleviate symptoms 🚲 so listen to your body and give it what it needs at that time 💪🏻 If it’s begging for rest, there is no shame in reducing activity and prioritizing sleep 💤
🌟Focus on stress management strategies that work for you - whether that means meditation, yoga 🧘‍♀️ reading, keeping a journal 📔- you do you! No matter how you destress, it’s important to prioritize “me time” ‼️
🌟Try keeping a consistent routine 🕑 because a lack of routine can mess with our circadian rhythm, our eating schedule and our stress levels 🙇🏻‍♀️Set consistent sleep/wake times, aim for consistent meal/snack times and limit screens for at least 1 hour before bedtime 🛌
🌟Identify an “emergency kit” that works for you 🆘 This may include peppermint tea 🍵 enteric coated peppermint capsules, magnesium or any supplement that you have identified with your healthcare practitioner to be helpful on an “as needed” basis 💊
IBS is multi-factorial and so is it’s management 💯 Curious about how I work 1:1 with clients? Contact me to schedule your compliment

❤️ this. unveiled a new painting at the Southampton General Hospital in a foyer near the emergency department. In the image, a young boy plays with his new favorite action hero - an NHS nurse.❤️The artist left a note for hospital workers which read: “Thanks for all you’re doing. I hope this brightens the place up a bit, even if its only black and white.”
