For 54 years (and counting!), Elpidio C. has proudly served Monmouth Medical Center so it's no surprise that the hospital's coordinator, Environmental Services, is so well known there that he's called "the mayor!" It was a humble start at Monmouth half a century ago for this native of Puerto Rico. Today, with a grateful heart, Elpidio shares with Mark E. During the winter, hospital blood bank inventories historically drop below safe levels. Winter seasonal illness, weather events, and post-holiday malaise all affect donor participation. With colleges and universities on winter break, there are far fewer opportunities for Blood Centers to run blood drives, but the need to have blood readily available to support trauma incidents, cancer patients, and surgeries does not stop.

To help celebrate National Blood Donor Month in January and to support our patients, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton is hosting a blood and platelet drive on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the Roma Bank Café vending area from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. After a successful donation, donors will receive a $10 coffee card.
