Unfortunately, we have to close today 😔. Our power is out and according to the experts, it is unlikely that we will be getting power back anytime soon and we can’t appropriately care for pets without power. If you have an immediate emergency, please visit Sentinel or Pet Emergency in Missoula. We will work on rescheduling everyone as soon as our phones are up. Stay safe!

We are asking for the community's help in keeping a lookout for Silver, a Chi-weenie who escaped yesterday evening near the intersection of Hwy 93 and Schurian Way (South of Lolo).

Silver is a recent surrender and is in "flight mode." She does not know her name or the area.

We know our community has huge hearts, but active searching or calling her name will drive her further into the river bottom or toward the highway. We need her to feel safe enough to come toward a home for food.

DO NOT enter private property on Schurian Way or Hwy 93.

📍 WHAT TO DO IF YOU SEE HER
Silver was last seen wearing a collar and harness, tags, and is dragging a leash. If you see her:

Stop moving. Don't try to get closer.

Note the exact time and location (and direction he was headed).

Call/Text immediately: 406-363-5311 or text 406-369-2788

Our goal is to keep her in a localized area so we can safely recover her. Please help us by being our eyes and ears from a distance!

UPDATE: No sightings today. We will put a trap out tomorrow. If you see her, please call is 406-363-5311

Sandy got away from her potential adopter about half way up Roaring Lion on the North side. He is searching for her. She is on the shy side, please keep an eye out for her. She is wearing a purple collar with a BRHA tag on it, as well as part of a chewed leash/rope.

We are seeing a LOT of coughing dogs. Canine infectious respiratory diseases complex or CIRD is very common this time of year. Cold weather and holidays means lots of dogs are either boarding or playing in close proximity to each other. The current valley bug is spreading rapidly. Most dogs will recover with minimal intervention, but older dogs and puppies are at higher risk for more severe infections. Cute squish faced dogs, such as Frenchies and Bostons are also at higher risk of developing more severe symptoms. If your dog is coughing, please isolate them from other dogs and give us a call.

One of our valley wildlife biologists (and great client of ours) informed us that an outbreak of Distemper is occurring within some of the valley’s raccoon population. This is the same virus that can affect dogs. Do not approach sick or injured wildlife and instead alert the local game warden. Distemper can be highly contagious and result in respiratory, GI and neurologic symptoms and has a high mortality rate. Please ensure your dogs are current on their Distemper/Parvo combo vaccine and do not allow them to interact with raccoons. Remove outside sources of food to limit interaction between raccoons and pets. Raccoons can be very defensive of a food source and are often not afraid to tussle with a much larger dog. Be safe!
