Community Health Alliance - Sojourner Recovery - Transitional Living TLC

Community Health Alliance - Sojourner Recovery - Transitional Living TLC Our programs include:

Sojourner Recovery Services, an agency of Community Health Alliance, is a full spectrum substance use treatment center.

Community Health Alliance, through Sojourner Recovery Services and Transitional Living-TLC, utilizes individualized treatment programs for general mental health and overcoming the disease of addiction. We have 7 residential facilities spread over Butler, Warren, and Preble County as well as 2 outpatient centers and our medical clinic located in Hamilton Ohio. We specialize in substance use treatment for adult men, adult women, and pregnant or post-partum mothers. When you are referred to Sojourner Recovery for services, you can expect to receive an assessment on your first day either by telehealth or face to face by a certified addiction counselor to determine the appropriate level of care. We offer withdrawal management, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and non-intensive outpatient. Childcare is offered during group time at several of our facilities, and we accept mothers with children under 12 at 2 of our residential locations. Medication Assisted Treatment
Sojourner offers the opportunity to be assessed by a physician for medication assisted treatment. The medications relieve withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and bring about a biochemical balance in the body. We also can treat minor physical health conditions and work closely with several local primary care providers. Perinatal
Sojourner operates a prevention program focused on women of child-bearing age. We utilize a holistic approach to provide services to drug dependent and high risk pregnant and post-partum women before, during, after, or in lieu of treatment in a variety of settings. We strive to help women achieve abstinence and maintain sobriety throughout the last trimester of their pregnancy, thereby delivering a “drug free baby” and improving the quality of life for both mother and infant. Recovery Housing
Sojourner operates several Recovery Houses in Hamilton, Ohio. We have 3 houses for single men, 1 house for single women, and 1 house for pregnant women with children under 2. We offer sober support, peer support, and a client driven length of stay for everyone who chooses to reside in one of our recovery residences. Discharge Recovery Planning
Sojourner’s discharge planning services start at the point of admission and are an integral part of our recovery programs. We strive to provide clients with the skills and tools necessary to successfully transition once treatment is completed. Focus is placed on developing a recovery action plan which includes, among other things, sober support, housing, medical needs, employment, parenting and education.

Fun fact (or perfectionist trigger warning):
The Windows cursor isn’t symmetrical!

This is a (very) small reminder that just because something seems perfect doesn’t mean it is - like us.

We aren't perfect (regardless of what people assume) and yet we're still functional and very much enough - just like the cursor.

Perfection is often an illusion.
Progress is real.
Healing is real.

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens in community, in family, in safe spaces where individuals feel supported.

Our childcare services help mothers and families focus on healing while knowing their children are cared for close by. By removing barriers and reducing stress, we create space for safe, effective recovery.

One of the ways we strengthen our community is through meaningful conversations.

As spring approaches, we’re actively sharing, exchanging ideas, exploring emerging trends, and discussing real-world tactics that make a difference. When we learn from one another, conversations spark ingenuity and open doors to stronger, more connected care.

Today (February 16th) is National Innovation Day — and we’re excited to share how recovery is evolving at Sojourner Recovery Services.

We’ve introduced tablet-based learning into our group therapy sessions alongside the Recovery First (R1) Curriculum. That means more interactive, trauma-informed conversations about relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and real-life recovery skills.

The tablets give clients a chance to journal privately, set goals, and get real-time feedback — helping them feel more involved and comfortable before sharing with the group. Since making the switch, we’ve seen stronger engagement, better retention, and more confident facilitators.

One client shared, “Using the tablet made me feel like I was really involved in my own recovery.”

Innovation isn’t just about technology — it’s about creating spaces where people feel supported, empowered, and ready when they are.

If you or someone you know could benefit from our recovery services, reach out to learn more.

This is a small reminder that a LOT of what you may be experiencing is outside of your control - and therefore need to let go. If we focus our energy on what matters (inside the circle), then things become more clear and calm - and that's something we ALL want!

If you need help along the way - we're always here.

Every other week, we’re out in the Middletown community—connecting with neighbors and making sure resources are easy to access.

On Monday, Rachel DeWitt, CDCA, Community Engagement Coordinator, alongside our community partners HopeLine, Full Circle Recovery Services, SOS Wellness, and Haven Behavioral Hospital of Dayton, stopped by nearly 50 homes, delivering bags filled with snacks and information about services available in the area.

The goal is simple: remove barriers and bring support directly to the community. When providers show up together, we strengthen access, awareness, and connection.

If you or someone you know needs support, resources are closer than you think.

Moments like last night’s halftime show remind us how powerful shared language can be.

Our focus is simple: caring for people from every background, in every stage of life—because health and healing work best when communities come together.

250!

That's how much resource bags, warm conversations, and a whole lot of heart goes out every third Sunday to our community! 💙

Led by our very own Christine Birhanzl, this monthly outreach is about showing up, connecting with people, and making sure support is always within reach — even on the coldest days.
