A typical day at DeCoach starts with connection, greeting co-workers, answering calls, and listening to people who are reaching out for someone they love or for themselves. Many of the calls we receive come from families or friends who are worried, unsure where to turn. My job and our job, is to remind them that they’re not alone and that help is just one call away.
At DeCoach Recovery Centre, every treatment plan is individualized because recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. We take the time to understand your story and create a path that fits you. Everyone here either has lived experience with addiction or has walked beside someone who has, and that’s what makes our care so compassionate and real.

My name is Michael Hester, and I’m the Regional Director of Nursing at DeCoach Recovery Centre. My story started like so many others, drinking in high school, then carrying that into the military where heavy drinking was almost celebrated. Over time, things got darker, and I made choices I’m not proud of. But when I finally faced the truth and asked for help, grace met me there. I got clean, sober, and eventually earned my nursing license back.
Even then, it wasn’t easy. Most places wouldn’t hire someone with my past. But DeCoach was different. They looked beyond my record and saw my heart, my desire to help others like me. That’s the DeCoach difference: people here get it. Many of us have been where you are, and we’re here to help you find your way out.
If you’re struggling, don’t give up. There’s hope, there’s healing, and there’s a place that will believe in you even when others don’t.

Meet Amy Dunkin who manages our amazing outreach team in Dayton, Ohio.

Throughout her dedicated years as an EMT, Amy constantly sought ways to do more for those battling addiction and mental health challenges. Her profound personal experience, losing a beloved brother to addiction, became the catalyst for her deep commitment to make a difference.

She firmly believes that simple acts of kindness can be transformative. From offering a comforting hug to a stranger, greeting the individual holding a sign on the street, or just being a patient listener, Amy emphasizes the power of empathy, compassion, and connection. Her mantra? "It takes a village." And indeed, she's a cornerstone of our village at Decoach.

Amy's unwavering dedication reminds us all that every act of love and understanding can create ripple effects of positive change in our community. We are beyond grateful to have her as a part of our Decoach family, consistently lighting the way with her warmth and wisdom.
