Another little trip in the books 🤍

We spent the week back in South Carolina making memories, chasing kids, and soaking up the chaos that comes with traveling with four little ones. It was loud, busy, and a little wild!

His doctor was very pleased with how Bennett looks from an orthopedic perspective, so for now there aren’t any new game plans — just continuing to follow up. We did get new straps for his KAFOs and moved up an inch because our boy is getting taller! He also grew a little in his arms, so they widened those some too.

Bennett did regress a little since our last trip therapy wise — so therapy this week focused mainly on getting him back to sitting, standing, and using his arms more to play. We didn’t get many pictures from therapy this time because we let him go in by himself so he wouldn’t have any distractions and could really focus on the work he needed to do.

In between therapies, we kept the kiddos busy with parks, lunch dates, and little adventures to pass the time. It’s definitely been a long week for all of us.

We’re finally headed home, but we’ll be back in a couple of months for more therapy and doctor visits. In the meantime, we’ll continue following up with our doctors from home and hoping to see some improvement with therapy and the appointments we have coming up.

Thank you to everyone who continues to check on Bennett and keep him in your prayers. 💙

We’re on the road again! 🚗💛

Headed back to South Carolina for the week with the whole crew this time — just missing Daddy!

Lots of miles, lots of kids, and lots of chaos ahead 😅 so say a few extra prayers for us this week as we juggle it all. We sure appreciate them! 🤍

Update on our Bennett man 🩵

Bennett has been doing really well since being discharged from the hospital. We haven’t seen any signs of a seizure since then. He’s still on seizure medication for now, and we’ll be following up with neurology in about three weeks.

We also had an appointment yesterday with his new GI doctor to discuss his belly issues. We came up with a new plan, and we’re hopeful it will help get things under control.

We’re also currently looking for another neurologist for a second opinion. If you have any recommendations, we’d truly appreciate it.🩵

Update for Bennett — especially for our local friends and family who have been checking in.

Yesterday, during Bennett’s therapy session, his therapists became concerned that he was experiencing a seizure. He presented with left-sided tremors, uncontrollable eye and tongue movements, foaming at the mouth, and loss of bladder control. The episode lasted approximately 2–3 minutes. We immediately took him to the emergency room, where he was evaluated and given seizure medication before being discharged home with instructions to rest and follow up with neurology.

Once home and settled, Bennett was placed on his pulse oximeter for overnight monitoring. His oxygen levels began to drop and were not recovering appropriately, and his responsiveness became delayed. At that point, I called 911, and Bennett was transported by ambulance back to the hospital.

He was re-evaluated and admitted for overnight observation. Bennett has since been connected to an EEG for continuous monitoring while additional tests are being conducted. Some laboratory results have returned, showing he is positive for rhinovirus, and his liver enzyme levels are significantly elevated. The EEG has shown activity on the left side of his brain, though it is still unclear whether this activity is seizure-related or due to another cause. He will remain on EEG monitoring for several more hours.

An MRI was discussed; however, due to his drowsiness from the seizure medication and concerns about anesthesia at this time, it will be scheduled as an outpatient procedure.

Once discharged, Bennett will have several additional tests and follow-up appointments added to his already busy schedule. We are continuing to take things one step at a time and appreciate all the prayers, support, and love being sent our way 🩵

I know many have been wondering where we’ve been, so I wanted to share a quick update. The truth is, life has been full and busy in the best ways. Bennett is doing exceptionally well at school, recently began a new outpatient therapy program, and has had a full schedule of ongoing appointments. In a couple of weeks, we’ll be traveling to South Carolina for additional appointments and a more intensive course of therapy.

Bennett is getting so big, so smart, and just so handsome. He’s had a few tummy issues lately, but other than that, there’s really not much else to say — he is truly thriving in every way he can. My boy is so deeply loved by so many, and watching him find his way in this world fills my heart beyond words. My heart is so full. 🩵
