The holidays can be a happy time, but they can also be hard.

However you're feeling right now, you're not alone. Please, remember, help is out there.

This semester, CSD Graduate Student Lyric Faldetta was invited to sit in on an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery during her acute care hospital clinical placement.
This procedure requires manipulation and retraction of several structures and nerves involved in swallowing and voice, and is why we often see temporary, or in some cases long-term, dysphagia and voice changes afterward.

What a fascinating experience!! Congratulations to you, Lyric, and a huge thank you to this site, her field supervisor, and this physician for this unforgettable experience.

⭐️Storybooks, Creativity, and Clinician Growth⭐️

As a final celebration of the semester, Mrs. May's CSD In-House Student Clinicians participated in a Storybook Swap, exchanging children's books and designing matching therapy extension activities. Their creative therapy activities sparked language ideas, literacy skills, articulation targets, and their ability to transform a single story into meaningful communication opportunities. We are grateful for the hard work and passion they bring to the future of our field!
