On November 7th, our Women’s Village hosted a Christmas Lantern Workshop! 🏮
✨ During this event, participants created beautiful lanterns inspired by a cherished Colombian tradition. These lanterns are traditionally used for Día de las Velitas (Day of the Little Candles), celebrated on December 7th. 🕯️🇨🇴

Día de las Velitas marks the official start of the Christmas season in Colombia. On this special night, families and communities come together to light candles and lanterns, illuminating their homes and streets in celebration. It’s a heartfelt tradition that brings people together and fills the atmosphere with warmth and hope.

¡El 7 de noviembre, nuestra Aldea de Mujeres organizó un taller de faroles navideños! 🏮

✨ Durante este evento, las participantes crearon hermosos faroles inspirados en una querida tradición colombiana. Estos faroles se utilizan tradicionalmente para el Día de las Velitas, que se celebra el 7 de diciembre. 🕯️🇨🇴

El Día de las Velitas marca el inicio oficial de la temporada navideña en Colombia. En esta noche especial, las familias y las comunidades se reúnen para encender velas y linternas, iluminando sus hogares y calles en señal de celebración. Es una tradición sincera que une a las personas y llena el ambiente de calidez y esperanza. 💛🎄

​Allies In Caring, Inc. (AIC), was founded by Ivette Guillermo-McGahee in 2012. She was driven by a strong desire to be more effective in helping children, youth and their families develop resiliency and become strong, creative and thriving despite the adversity in their lives.
