How often should you get a massage? 🤔

It depends on your body, your stress levels, and your goals.

For general wellness:
Once a month helps maintain mobility, reduce tension, and keep small issues from becoming bigger ones.

If you’re dealing with pain or recovering from an injury:
Every 1–2 weeks may be more effective to make real progress and keep the body from reverting to old patterns.

If you’re under high stress or training intensely:
More frequent sessions can help regulate your nervous system, improve recovery, and prevent burnout.

Massage isn’t just a luxury—it’s maintenance for your muscles and your mind. The “right” frequency is the one that supports your lifestyle and helps you feel your best consistently. ✨

Not sure what schedule makes sense for you? I’m always happy to talk through your goals and create a plan that works for your body.

Massage isn’t just about relaxation — it’s applied science.

Behind every technique is an understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and how the nervous system responds to touch. The right pressure, direction, and pace aren’t random — they’re chosen to improve circulation, reduce pain, and restore movement.

Relaxation is a benefit.
But results come from knowing what’s happening under the skin.

That’s why a good massage should feel intentional, not just soothing.

How I time out a 60 min massage
15 min on back
3 min on hip
3 min on leg
2 min on foot
3 min other hip
3 min other leg
2 min other foot
Flip over -29 min left
5 min leg
5 min other leg
5 min arm
5 min other arm
9 min shoulders and neck

A 60-minute full body massage is often enough for general relaxation, but it doesn’t always allow time for more focused, detailed work. That’s why I’ll always ask if there are any areas that need extra attention.

If there are, we may need to spend less time on other areas or skip a few regions to stay within the session time.

If you’d rather not feel rushed and still want a complete full-body experience, a 90-minute session is usually the best choice. ✨

Your shoulders do a lot for you. Mobility work and massage help them keep doing it comfortably.
The shoulders carry stress from everything — posture, phones, workouts, even anxiety.
Over time, that tension limits mobility and can start pulling on the neck and upper back.
Targeted massage helps restore movement, reduce pain, and let your shoulders actually relax again.

Self care

Sometimes when women come in for bodywork they say things like,

“I should have booked sooner.”

And honestly… I hear that a lot.

Not because women don’t care about their bodies.

But because somewhere along the way many of us were taught that taking care of ourselves should come after everything else.

Kids.
Work.
The house.
Everyone else’s needs.

Recently a client said something that really stuck with me:

“It used to be viewed as selfish to do these types of things before taking care of responsibilities. Reality is, we’re no good to anyone if we don’t have what we need.

It’s interesting that men can go hunting, fishing, play sports, join fantasy football leagues or bowling leagues and that’s viewed as acceptable… but when women choose yoga, coffee with friends, thrift shopping, book clubs, massage, or chiropractic care, it can still be seen as selfish.

Perspectives need to change.”

I couldn’t agree more.
Caring for your body isn’t selfish.
It’s part of what allows you to keep showing up for the life and people you love.

Maybe the shift isn’t learning to do more self-care…Maybe it’s learning to allow more support and bodycare.

I’m curious — have you ever felt guilty for taking time to care for yourself?

Your feet do a lot more than you think.

Each foot has 26 bones — that’s about 1/4 of all the bones in your body.
Both feet together? 52 bones, 33 joints, and 100+ muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Your plantar fascia acts like a spring when you walk, helping absorb and return energy.
And your feet can experience up to 3x your body weight with every step (even more when running).

Then there are the calves — the real drivers of forward movement.
The deeper calf muscle, the soleus, is often called the “second heart” because it helps pump blood back to your heart.

And when we work on these areas in massage, the benefits aren’t just mechanical — they’re neurological, meaning the effects continue even after the session ends.

So if you’re on your feet all day, train hard, or both… these areas deserve real attention.

Sometimes our bodies start whispering long before they start shouting.
Tight shoulders
Frequent headaches
A jaw that won’t quite relax
Trouble sleeping
That constant feeling of being “on edge”

Often we try to push through.
We stretch a little.
Take something for the headache.
Tell ourselves we’ll slow down soon.

But the body is incredibly wise.
Many of these signals aren’t just about muscles…
they’re about stress, overwhelm, and a nervous system that hasn’t had a chance to reset.

Lately I’ve been experimenting with something simple but powerful.

When I notice tension somewhere in my body, I pause and bring my attention there.
Sometimes I’ll even thank that part of my body for everything it does for me.

Then I ask it a question:
What are you trying to tell me?

It might sound a little unusual, but our bodies are constantly communicating with us.

This is one of the things I love most about bodywork.
It creates space for your body to soften, release, and come back into balance.

Sometimes what your body needs most
is simply support and time to unwind.

And sometimes it helps to have someone walk alongside you in learning how to listen to your body a little more closely.

What’s one signal your body has been giving you lately?

Massage therapy isn’t just physical work.

It’s presence.
It’s attention.
It’s holding space for people who might not have anywhere else to let their guard down.

That takes a different kind of strength.

And it’s an honor to do it every day
And,oh yeah,we also have to lift weights đź’Ş
