Green means Spring!
And in Chinese Medicine,
that means LIVER time!

The liver loves the upward and
outward movement of spring--
it loves to get out and DO!

So take your cue and do some of these
things to soothe your liver:
a. MOVE your body. Walk, run, dance,
yoga, just get it moving. Instant
stress relief. Instant perspective-changer.
b. Eat GREEN foods like broccoli, asparagus,
and kale. These greens help provide
nourishment to the liver. A squeeze
of lemon makes these a
doubly liver-friendly food event.
c. Practice COMPASSION. Self compassion
helps set the ground for having
compassion for others. Remember--
you are always, already perfect. Even
in your imperfections. Compassion is
the "positive" emotion of the liver.
(Anger, frustration and irritability are the
"negative" emotions associated
with the liver. And can be remedied
with a big fat dose of movement and
compassion.)

AN EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!

After much thought and consideration,
we have decided to split the clinics up
between us!

Rashell lives in Wilmington and Dr. G
in Hampstead, so Rashell is taking over the Wilmington Clinic and Dr. G will be working
out of the Hampstead clinic only.

Beginning in May, the Wilmington Clinic's
new name will be
Sol Shine Acupuncture and Community Wellness.

Rashell will have a new contact number and
email, all of which will be sent out in plenty
of time to everyone.

Although we will miss our respective clinic
patients dearly, (you have no idea how much
y'all mean to us!), we will not miss driving back
and forth from Hampstead to Wilmington and
back again twice a week

JJ and Dr. G will be in Hampstead and Rashell
and Brittany will be in Wilmington.

Same clinics, same addresses, same amazing
care that you have always received, only
Wilmington will be renamed.

Spring is the season of
BURSTING FORTH in
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM);
The energetic movement is literally
up and out. Based on millennia of
nature observations,TCM principles
explain the flow of movement in the body
in poetic terms of nature.

Each season has a different set of internal
organs associated with the energy of that
season, as well as an element that best
describes the qi, or energy, of the season.
In spring, the wood element expresses the
upward and outward movements of spring,
and the liver and gallbladder are the internal
organs that most reflect that movement.

The most important role the liver and
gallbladder play in the body is detoxification.
These organs — the liver in particular —
help clear the body of toxins. By clearing
toxins, the liver provides the body with
higher-quality blood that can more easily
circulate. It also helps the body digest fats by releasing bile, which helps clear fat from
the digestive system and absorbs it into the bloodstream. This bile is stored in the
nearby gallbladder. Additionally, the liver
provides a backup energy reserve for the
body in the form of glycogen, which is the
stored form of glucose.
In a nutshell, the liver is busy with three functions: detox, breakdown, and backup.

Common signs that the liver needs detox support include:
