💙 National Caregivers Day 💙
Today we recognize the incredible individuals who care for others with compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication.
Caregivers are often the quiet heroes — helping with medications, appointments, meals, mobility, and offering emotional support every single day. Whether you’re caring for a parent, spouse, child, friend, or neighbor, your work matters more than words can express.
At our primary care office, we see firsthand the impact caregivers make in the lives of our patients. You are advocates, organizers, cheerleaders, and comforters all in one.
✨ If you are a caregiver:
Remember to schedule your own check-ups.
Take breaks when you can.
Accept help when it’s offered.
Prioritize your mental and physical health.
You cannot pour from an empty cup.
To all caregivers in our community — especially those who trust us with their loved ones’ care — thank you. We appreciate you today and every day. 💙

Sedentary work got you down? Walking pad to the rescue! It has been said that for every one hour we spend seeing patients, we have at least one hour of paperwork. Amy does her paperwork on the move!

Why Consider a Standing Desk + Walking Pad?

Many of us sit for 8+ hours a day — and prolonged sitting has been linked to back pain, weight gain, poor circulation, and increased risk of chronic disease.

Adding a standing desk and walking pad to your workday can offer real health benefits:

✔️ Improves circulation
✔️ Reduces back and neck strain
✔️ Helps regulate blood sugar levels
✔️ Supports heart health
✔️ Increases daily calorie burn
✔️ Boosts energy and focus

Even light walking throughout the day can make a meaningful difference. Small, consistent movement breaks help counteract the effects of prolonged sitting and support long-term wellness.

Your body was designed to move — let’s keep it moving. 💙

💗 Happy Galentine’s Day! 💗

Today we celebrate the friendships, laughter, and support that keep us strong. Whether it’s a best friend who reminds you to schedule your annual check-up, a sister who encourages healthier habits, or a coworker who brightens your day, the connections we share play an important role in our overall wellness.

This Galentine’s Day, take a moment to check in on the people you care about—and don’t forget to take care of yourself too. Prioritizing preventive care, heart health, and wellness visits is one of the best ways to show yourself some love.

💙 Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week 💙

This week, Hampstead Primary Care joins families, patients, and healthcare professionals across the country in recognizing Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week. Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defects, affecting thousands of children and adults living with heart conditions every day.

Awareness helps drive early detection, ongoing care, and lifesaving research. We encourage our community to learn the signs, support individuals and families affected by CHDs, and wear red or blue this week to show your support.

If you have questions about heart health, preventive screenings, or ongoing care, our team at Hampstead Primary Care is here for you. Together, we can build healthier hearts and healthier futures. ❤️

✨🏈 Super Bowl Sunday: Keep the Fun — and Your Health — in the Game! 🏈✨

Game day doesn’t have to mean sidelining your health! Here are a few easy tips to enjoy the Super Bowl while keeping your wellness goals on track:

🥕 Make smart snack swaps
Try veggies and hummus, fruit trays, air-popped popcorn, or baked/air-fried wings instead of fried or heavy snacks. Small substitutions can help cut excess fat, sodium, and calories.

💧 Stay hydrated
Keep water or flavored sparkling water nearby. Staying hydrated can help prevent overeating and keep your energy up throughout the game.

🍽️ Practice portion control
Use a plate instead of grazing from snack bowls and start with lighter options like veggies to help avoid overeating.

🏃 Add a little movement
Take advantage of commercials or halftime to stretch, walk, or get active. Even short bursts of activity can help balance out long periods of sitting.

🥗 Don’t skip meals before the party
Eating balanced meals earlier in the day helps reduce the temptation to overindulge later.

❤️ Remember: Balance is key
Enjoy your favorite game-day treats in moderation and focus on spending time with friends and family!

From all of us at Hampstead Primary Care, have a safe, healthy, and fun Super Bowl Sunday! 🏆

Our Story

Stephen Laiken, M.D., P.A., was established in 1988. We know that choosing a medical provider is an important and very personal decision. We strive to commit ourselves to keep a “small office feel”. We know our patients, and often their families. They know our staff and feel like we are all working as a team.
