In honor of Women's History Month, we honor Louise Summerhill, founder of Birthright International.
Louise was a busy housewife and mother of seven, when she felt strongly called to help girls and women who wanted to carry their pregnancies to term, in spite of difficult circumstances.
In 1968, Louise founded the first Birthright service in Toronto, Ontario. More than 50 years later, with hundreds of Birthright chapters in Canada, the United States, and the continent of Africa, Louise's legacy lives on through the work of her children, grandchildren, and thousands of Birthright volunteers.
Moreover the beauty of Louise's love for mothers in need is written in the history of untold thousands of women and children who have been helped by Birthright across the decades and around the world.
