Still feeling inspired after an incredible time last week in Nashville at the 2026 National Proton Conference with The National Association for Proton Therapy! ⭐️

Hampton Proton’s Director of Marketing, Tiffany Velez Rodgers, hosted a panel on Elevating Your Proton Therapy Message: Brand Positioning, Public Relations, and Community Engagement alongside David Rauback (), Lyndsay Sullivan ( Proton), Sherri Kubesh (Southwest Florida Proton), and AJ Williams (), and also led the 2026 Proton Therapy Excellence Awards Breakfast.

The week was filled with powerful moments—including closing remarks from Olympic gold medalist and cancer survivor Scott Hamilton, who was treated with proton therapy, and a moving tribute as Grammy-winning artist Amy Grant accepted an award on behalf of her late father, Dr. Burton Grant, a true pioneer of radiation oncology in Tennessee whose legacy continues to shape cancer care today.

We’re also thrilled to share that Tiffany has been appointed to the NAPT Board of Directors—representing the nation’s first and only HBCU-affiliated proton therapy center. Official announcement coming soon.🔔

Grateful for the opportunity to connect and continue pushing the future of cancer care forward 💙

Why should I consider proton therapy instead of traditional radiation?

We get this question all the time—and for good reason. When it comes to cancer treatment, understanding the differences matters. Proton therapy offers a more targeted approach, which may help reduce impact to healthy tissue.

In honor of National Nutrition Month, we’re proud to highlight a special space at our center — Emma’s Sensory Garden. 🌿

Named after former Hampton Proton patient Emma Lednick, the garden was created as a place for patients, families, and staff to pause, connect with nature, and reflect on the role wellness plays in healing.

Good nutrition is an important part of overall health.

According to the CDC and the American Cancer Society, healthy lifestyle choices — including balanced diets rich in fruits and vegetables — can help reduce the risk of several cancers.

What are some health habits you’re working on this month?

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about one of the most preventable cancers when detected early.

In an interview aired last week, Eugene Daniel of WVEC Channel 13 spoke with our very own Dr. Allan Thornton to discuss the signs and symptoms of colorectal cancer along with the importance of getting screened.

Early detection saves lives. Screening can help find colorectal cancer before symptoms even appear.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness about prevention and early detection, and to recognize the patients and families impacted by this disease.

At Hampton Proton, we are committed to delivering precise, compassionate care through advanced treatment options like proton therapy, designed to target tumors while helping to protect surrounding healthy tissue.

This month, we stand with survivors, caregivers, and everyone affected by colorectal cancer — and we remain dedicated to providing hope through innovation and patient-centered care. 💙.

We were honored to join the Suffolk Rotary Club yesterday to share more about who we are and the work we do each day.💛

Our Director of Clinical Operations, Erin Erdos, spoke with members about proton therapy, how it works, and the difference it can make for patients. She also highlighted some of our patient-centered initiatives and the ways our community can help us continue giving back to those we serve.🎁

Thank you to the Suffolk Rotary Club for the warm welcome and thoughtful questions — we’re grateful for the opportunity to connect and share our mission. 💙

We’re excited to announce our new partnership with Milk & Honey in support of our PATH Program.💙

PATH is our new patient registry and support program, designed to help ease the practical and financial burdens that can come with a cancer diagnosis — from non-clinical everyday needs to unexpected challenges along the treatment journey. Through community generosity, PATH connects patients to meaningful resources when they need them most.

With Milk & Honey joining us as a partner, we’re continuing to expand that circle of support for the patients and families we serve.

We’re excited to share a new community partnership with APEX Entertainment in Virginia Beach🎉

Through their generosity, APEX will be donating toys and unforgettable experiences to support our HUPTI Smiles Pediatric Giving Program — bringing moments of joy and fun to our youngest patients during treatment.

At Hampton Proton, healing goes beyond medicine. Partnerships like this help us continue caring for the whole child and reminding our patients that they are surrounded by a community that cares. 💛
