A major Phase III clinical trial published in The Lancet shows improved survival and preserved quality of life for patients with oropharyngeal cancer treated with proton therapy.

According to our our medical director, Dr. Christopher Sinesi, the findings reinforce the importance of precision radiation, particularly for cancers of the mouth and throat.

At Hampton Proton, proton therapy is offered to appropriate candidates as part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care. Guided by a commitment to compassionate cancer care, the center focuses not only on treating disease, but also on preserving quality of life and supporting patients throughout every stage of their cancer journey.

Yesterday’s Quarterly Prostate Cancer Support Group provided a meaningful opportunity for current and former patients to speak openly about their experiences and connect with one another.🔔

Hosted by Dave Ellis, our first support group of 2026 featured special guest speaker Dr. Allan Thornton, and it reflected our commitment to supporting patients not just clinically, but personally.

This week, Mr. William Dise rang the bell and reminded us what the true spirit of the season looks like.

On his final day of treatment, he celebrated his graduation by making the most generous donation to date to our PATH program—turning his milestone into hope for others. 🔔

PATH, our Patient Access to Help program, supports patients with non-clinical needs during treatment, helping ease everyday burdens so they can focus on healing.

Mr. Dise’s extraordinary generosity will make a lasting impact for patients and families this holiday season and beyond.

✨ This Week 15 Years Ago: Hampton Made History

On October 27, 2010, Hampton Proton opened its doors as the first proton therapy center in Virginia, the largest in the world at the time, and remains today the only proton therapy facility owned and operated by an HBCU.

That day marked more than a grand opening — it marked the beginning of a legacy built on science, compassion and community.

Since that groundbreaking moment, we’ve spent fifteen years advancing research, expanding access, and changing lives through cutting-edge proton therapy and compassionate care.

As we honor where we began, we’re looking ahead to the next fifteen years of innovation, advocacy, and hope. Happy birthday to us! 💙🔔
