What is a Doula?
- A Doula is a woman (or man) that helps you through your pregnancy, labor/delivery, and post partum periods. What does a Doula do?
- A Doula can provide natural pain relief during intense contractions, calm fears, discuss pros and cons to medical interventions, be on call to answer questions or concerns you may have. What does a Doula NOT do?
- A Doula will not do any medical procedures. listen for the heart beat, cervical checks, deliver the baby etc.) They will not speak to your doctor or midwife for you. What are the PROs to hiring a Doula?
-Less likely to need artificial pain management (ex. IV drugs or epidurals)
-Greatly decreases chances of cesarean sections
-Reduces stress
-Can decrease the length of labor
What are the CONs to hiring a Doula?
- None! Does a Doula take the place of the Father?
-Absolutely not. A Doula can make the Fathers experience a little better as well, as if the Mother needs something, instead of sending the father away the Doula can get whatever she needs. A Doula can also help the Father help the Mother however she needs. Are Doulas only useful for un-medicated births?
- No way. A Doula is beneficial, even if only there for emotional support. What all do I offer?

An initial meeting/interview
2 prenatal appointments towards the end of your pregnancy (if you choose)
unlimited messages/texts/emails
On call 24/7 starting at 37 weeks through birth
a post natal visit once a week until 6 weeks. What extras do I offer clients?
-I do Placenta Prints
placenta smoothies
I can photograph the birth if necessary (i am not a photographer but I can take the pictures on a memory card and give that to you)
What do I charge?
