When the world feels scary, our kids feel it too. 🌍💛

In a military community, many of our children are hearing words like conflict, war, and deployment right now. Even when they don’t fully understand what’s happening, they often sense the tension around them. Anxiety can show up as clinginess, trouble sleeping, irritability, or lots of big questions.

Here are a few ways to help calm anxious hearts at home:

🕊 Create a sense of safety.
Simple reassurances like “You are safe right now” and “The adults in your life are taking care of things” help children regulate their fears.

🗣 Invite their questions.
Let kids ask what they’re wondering about. Answer honestly, but keep explanations simple and age-appropriate.

📵 Limit exposure to news.
Constant media can overwhelm children (and adults). Protect their peace by controlling what they see and hear.

🙏 Pray together.
Prayer reminds kids they’re not alone. Invite them to talk to God about what worries them. Even a simple prayer like “God, please help us feel safe and brave” can bring comfort.

🤗 Stay connected.
Extra hugs, family time, and predictable routines help children’s nervous systems settle.

Today is International Women’s Day. A day we honor the countless women who nurture, lead, serve, and persevere through life’s challenges with faith and resilience. Scripture reminds us that women are created with deep value and purpose: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25

At Genesis Counseling Center, we are grateful for the women in our community—clients, counselors, mothers, daughters, leaders, and friends—who continue to show incredible strength in their journeys toward healing and wholeness.
