We were delighted to honor a very special member of our community this morning, Ed Donnelly. Ed's family and friends were in attendance when he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He has truly lived a remarkable life. Ed served in the Army and National Guard. He was married to his beloved wife Helen for nearly 60 years. Together they raised 3 beautiful daughters, who are devoted to their dad. He is a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The aspect that most defines Ed is his career as a fireman in the New York Fire Department. He is very proud of his career in firefighting, and loved every aspect of his job. Thank you Ed for your service in the miliary and as a first responder and fireman. You touch lives and hearts, and make each day brighter for each of us.

We had a wonderful visit today with Bode, a trained service dog and his mom, Steph. Bode is so sweet and gentle. Pet visits are so important to our community, and provide so many benefits. His non-judgmental presence provides comfort, and significant emotional, social and cognitive benefits.

That’s a wrap on our Fall Wisdom Warrior program! The students did a wonderful job learning about these incredible residents, writing their stories, and presenting them to our community and families today. The books looked beautiful and so many laughs were had. Thank you once again to for the commitment to making this program such a success. Congratulations to all!

Grab Your Passport Iceland this month had us trying Vinarterta, a Celebration Cake made of a prune compote and biscuit cookie layers. Sounded interesting, and tasted incredible! The residents loved it and asked for it to made again at some point!
