The Hampton Fire Dept. received a generous $5,000 donation from Long Term Medical Supply on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Hampton Fire Chief Kent Wilkinson said they are grateful for the donation, as they recently had to purchase two new sets of bunker gear, which cost $4,400 a piece.
“Any extra money we can get goes a long way,” he said.
Kathy Meyer-Albee with LTMS told the Chronicle that they are glad to do their part to help support the fire department, which runs on a volunteer basis.
“It’s important that they can work with good equipment and be able to fight fires efficiently,” she said. “We appreciate their service to the community.”
The fire department currently has 26 active firefighters.
