We specialize in Birth Center, Homebirth, Hospital Birth, VBAC, waterbirth, placenta encapsulation and delayed cord clamping. We have experience and offer support to pregnant people in many different situations including adoptions, alternative lifestyle, WOC, LGBT families, PostPartum Depression, PTSD, single moms, young moms and people with a history of sexual abuse. We serve families regardless of race, religion, orientation, gender identity, or financial status. We include your family and friends in any capacity that YOU choose because midwifery care is about YOU and YOUR choices. We provide you with all of the information that we have available and YOU get to make the decisions.

The Village Midwife, LLC came to be because of Jeni Rector's strong belief in God, her rebellious spirit, her commitment to the pregnant folks in her community and being tired of having other people tell her what she could or couldn’t do

In that same spirit of REBELLION, The Village Midwife, LLC has released this official statement regarding the CENSORSHIP that has been placed on the CDC:

We believe that pregnancy and birth are normal, spiritual, physical and SCIENCE-BASED events in a person’s life.

We realize that pregnancy is often a VULNERABLE time for pregnant people and their families and that's why we go above and beyond to provide care that is EVIDENCE-BASED and focused on the DIVERSITY in our community.

We believe that your fetus, your baby, your bun in the oven, is already part of the family, part of the amazing community that has been lovingly created for you.

Our desire is to help you grow and raise your family without a sense of ENTITLEMENT but rather a sense of what you are entitled to...safety, respect, and honesty.

We believe that ALL families deserve the same attention, care, love and respect...We serve all people...insured, uninsured, undocumented, straight, gay, TRANSGENDER, Black, White, Latino, Asian, Indian, multicultural, Muslim, Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, Mormon, Atheist, Baptist, Satanist, Buddhist.

We serve families who speak English and those we can only communicate with using Google translate and gestures.

We serve people who live in big houses and people who live in tents.

We serve people who have been r***d, assaulted and abused.

We serve young people and elderly people ( that means over 35!).

We help facilitate adoptions and custody arrangements.

We are a safe place for people who are desperate, scared and alone.

We will love you if you are an addict or in recovery, if you are a pole dancer or a neurosurgeon, if you have 1 husband or 20 wives.

We will care for you if you have had a csection, miscarriages, multiple abortions or are suffering from infertility.

We will even help you if you are a politician.

We proudly provide EVIDENCE-BASED, SCIENCE-BASED care to a DIVERSE community of people who are going to bring a FETUS into the world. We believe that pregnancy is a time when a person is VULNERABLE especially when they don't fit in societal norms..like our TRANSGENDER, gay, polygamist, undocumented moms. We don't believe in ENTITLEMENT we believe in enlightenment. Our goal is to bring joy into your world safely and respectfully.... Even if you are a politician.

Our Story

Jeni Rector, LM, CPM is a traditional, community midwife that serves the families of SE Virginia. She offers Individualized, Non-Interventive, Evidence-Based care for Healthy, Low-Risk Pregnant People. Jeni has been working in the birth community for 20 years and, as a midwife, for 16.

Jeni believes that ALL families deserve to have a wonderful birth experience no matter their economic status, their race, their family situation, their sexual orientation, or their spiritual convictions.

She offers prenatal care, labor support, and postpartum care in the Birth Center, your Home or even if you are planning a Hospital birth. She also specializes in Waterbirth, VBAC, Placenta Encapsulation, Delayed Cord Clamping, Breastfeeding, Doula training, Lotus birth, Midwifery training and more.

The Village Birth Center opened in 2016, to fill a HUGE void in the birthing community. It is the ONLY Freestanding Birth Center in ALL of SE Virginia. Because of it, more pregnant people are receiving care... which leads to safer outcomes. The Birth Center is a terrific option for families who desire natural, traditional midwifery care or families that are coming from out of the area.
