As a junior officer in a busy career field I had a unique window into how leadership edicts got carried out. I learned a quick lesson: THE MORE RULES THE MORE LIES. The more control the bosses tried to exert in order to correct a perceived inefficiency the more people would just lie about doing things.

New favorite metaphor that gives broken relationships hope!

Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese technique of preparing precious ceramics using gold. Porcelain is valuable, in part, because it is fragile. It is delicate and thus weak. The Japanese have appreciated porcelain for centuries and, although they have surely been careful, tea pots have been broken. What...

As he famously said, “It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.

Plenty of advice on what makes for a good, happy marriage has been thrown around for centuries.  Ironically enough, it was a lifelong bachelor, who possessed rather ambivalent feelings on the institution, who offered some of the very best insights on this front.  Friedrich Nietzsche never walked d...

Guiding Couples, Families & Individuals to Repair, Recover & Thrive in the Central Valley

What are the best moments you’ve ever experienced? Who could you...Just...Not...Wait...to share them with? Sometimes our close relationships get injured, and turn painful. I help couples through injuries and issues (like affairs and chronic conflict). I can assist people who have experienced trauma, turn their pain into something powerful they can use for the good of all around them. I make sure to connect with clients and work with them from a person-centered approach to accomplish what’s important to them. I also enjoy creating a unique and creative treatment approach that can involve less traditional models like motivation interviewing (useful for addiction problems), as well as solution focused and narrative approaches that are high in creativity and story-telling.

Here’s a more technical list of my credentials:

  • CA BBS Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #111450

  • Trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy
