Many of us learned early on to read the room as a way to feel safe.
We notice shifts in tone, body language, or energy and immediately wonder: āAre they okay?ā or āDid I do something wrong?ā
Over time, this can turn into feeling like itās our job to fix other peopleās emotions.
⨠But hereās something important to remember:
You donāt have to decode every mood, and you donāt have to fix it.
Letting someone be in a bad mood can feel uncomfortable at first. It may go against your instincts. But allowing space for others to feel what they feel builds trust, both in them and in yourself.
𩵠I trust you to communicate if you need support.
𩵠I trust myself to be okay, even if someone else isnāt.
With time, this practice can help your nervous system settle. You begin to understand: Other peopleās emotions can shift⦠and I am still safe.
