I am so excited about this! Social Workers are finally getting an Interstate Compact! This means that eligible Social Workers will be able to apply for a multistate license, and this is so exciting since there is such a high demand and not enough of us to go around. The easier it can be to provide services the better!

If you want to see where your state is in the legislative process check out this website! Maryland has joined officially, and Pennsylvania is "pending".

Social Work Licensure Compact Scroll Down About The Council of State Governments (CSG) is partnering with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) to support the mobility of licensed social workers through the development of a new interstate compact. I saved this post awhile ago as it struck a chord with me.

Things are hard for so many. It's ok to take time to acknowledge those feelings and take time for yourself. Then it's a good idea to set boundaries in place that allows you to move through those feelings. That's going to look different for different people. If we don't know what's really wrong, we can't do the work to heal and grow and reveal the beauty that's waiting.

I don't post on here as often as I would like, however I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me and my aspirations to own my business, fully debt free, fully virtual, serving people in both PA and MD, Deaf and Hearing. I officially became a buisiness in March 2023 and started supervising a LSW, in May I saw my first client as Watering Hope, LLC. This year has been a huge blessing and I am grateful to be of service to people who are looking for hope. Having only been open for 1 yr 9 mo, I am beyond thrilled to see my practice grow. I have worked with people who have ADHD, level 1 Autism, marital issues, parenting issues, people who want to grow in a wide variety of areas in life, and people who are struggling with grief and loss. I'm sure the people I have walked with have been supported, however I have learned much from them as well. I have a goal to post more often in 2025, but more importantly to continue to provide meaningful mental health services to the best of my abilities.

I wish everyone Happy Holidays and "see" you in the new year! Until then, here is a beautiful picture of a moth that landed on some of my daisy's last month. Can anyone tell if its a male or female Common Buckeye?

Its that time of year- back to school, "fall" or second summer depending on where you live :) Which can be a season of great joy and expectation or a season of marked sadness... this is also the time that starts us looking forward to the holidays so many seasonal holidays coming up. All of these events can bring a wide variety of feelings which are all valid and some easier than others to process.

What does this season bring to mind for you?

Sometimes in this crazy world of adventure and busy and joy and hurt, we get the message that who we are and the space that we are in isn't acceptable. I would love to give you permission to just be you, and whoever doesn't like it..... I suggest removing yourself from their negativity.

BUT you don't need my permission friend.

I am sitting here thinking about a few people that I work with and a theme has started coming up a little recently. The feeling that things should "go back to normal" after a loss of a loved one. I am not sure why we as a culture push the narrative that we can simply pick up the pieces and move on as if everything is fine.

The reality is, things are always going to be different. There will always be little (or big) reminders that your loved one isn't with you. There will be changes for so many things, the biggest being the change in your heart. Its not always a bad change, but the process is often painful. We learn how to carry on, how to pick up and move forward... but its never going to be "back to normal". I think we need to change this expectation. For ourselves AND for those that we love who are mourning.

Maybe the expectation should be a change. A change in routine, a change in how we interact with others, maybe we rekindle relationships or we decide a relationship is no longer in our best interests. Maybe loss should lead to change, a new routine, new structures, a NEW normal.

According to Google Dictionary, Normal is "the usual, average, or typical state or condition." What is normal to me may not be normal for you- as thats a great thing. It means normal isn't just one way. Normalcy can change as we change. Growth can still happen. Healing can happen. Pain will always happen. Maybe instead of us expected to go back, we should look forward and support our friends and family in figuring out what thats going to look like while grieving.

Feeling like I am on my way to being a full blown business! :) Have my name all registered and official, and now I have my logo!

The reason I landed on Watering Hope, is because life is a journey. When we water ourselves, we are investing in our growth and progress over time. Investing in HOPE is about the best gift you can give yourself. Not hope that a situation can get better, but maybe hope that the future ahead is possible, that it can be brighter and full of life,

The plant/gardening/flowering imagery is to remind us that things take time. Growth doesn't happen over night. Often things are really bleak before any beauty starts to show. Growth also involves getting your hands dirty, like gardening. You have to dig in and commit.

Thank you to all of those who have helped give ideas for my practice name, who are helping me figure things out along the way- you are truly appreciated!!

I see so many people who are struggling with some really hard things in life. And life can be so unfair.

We often make the situations worse by talking to ourselves as a bully would talk to us. We belittle ourselves, call ourselves names, limit our abilities to heal or meet goals. We can change our self talk. We can talk to ourselves gently, with grace and love. Just like you would with someone else who is going through a hard thing.

You are doing the best you can. Be kind. Be kind to yourself.
