OSS Health Physiatrists, Dr. Michael Furman and Dr. Brian Steinmetz, recently spoke at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation's (AAPM&R) Annual Assembly 2025 in Salt Lake City. Joined by three other physicians, two of whom had previously gone through the OSS Health Fellowship Program, their session focused on the management of blood thinning agents in interventional pain procedures. During the discussion, Dr. Furman presented a study he is preparing for publication on this topic along with data, current guidelines, and case studies.

Thank you to our physicians who take the time to share their knowledge with other healthcare professionals, undoubtedly leading to better and safer patient care.

On Friday evening, Dr. Kyle Low and his wife, Jennifer, attended the Hoffman Homes' Emerald Gala at the Wyndham Gettysburg. The event raised money for the organization, which provides comprehensive trauma informed psychiatric care, treatment and education to children who need it most. We are thankful for our physicians who show up to support the important work being done in our communities.

OSS Health's Annual Service Awards were held last evening, with 87 employees being recognized for their milestone years with our organization. The outstanding care we provide to our patients is only possible because of our employees' ongoing commitment to our mission. Thank you to all of our employees for choosing to be a part of the OSS Health team, and for serving our communities so well.

Recently, OSS Health replaced all sleeper chairs in our orthopaedic hospital. While no longer suitable for a hospital setting due to infection control standards, the chairs were still in good condition. Rather than disposing of these chairs, our nursing staff connected with four local shelters that were excited to accept the donation. In total, 25 sleeper chairs were given to the YWCA York, Friends & Neighbors of Pennsylvania, Covenant House Youth Shelter, and People Under Safe Housing.

A special thanks to both our Facilities team for coordinating transportation and to our inpatient nursing staff who helped move the chairs. This collaborative initiative reflects one of the true cornerstones of nursing by meeting the needs of our community in meaningful and compassionate ways.

OSS Health Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Vinny Bonaddio and Dr. Kier Blevins, recently spoke to a group of veterans about various orthopaedic topics. Highlighting treatment options for hip and knee pain as well as conditions that affect the upper extremity, both physicians enjoyed speaking to this highly engaged audience. While connecting with members of our community is always appreciated, we were especially grateful for the opportunity to spend time with veterans who have given so much of themselves.

Today wraps up Spirit Week at OSS Health! Throughout the week, employees were encouraged to participate in special attire days, such as Twin Day and Pink Out for Breast Cancer Awareness. A highlight of the week was an Employee Appreciation Luncheon held on Wednesday for staff members at each of our office locations. We are so thankful for our employees who always provide the best patient care and know have to have a little fun in the process!

Understanding our bone health as we age is so important to reduce the chance of devastating fractures. Sarah Atkins, Physician Assistant at OSS Health, spoke on this important topic last evening at a Women's Wellness Fair hosted by LHM Physical Therapy in Shrewsbury. She discussed risk factors associated with osteoporosis and low bone density, and ways in which to diagnose and treat both conditions. Interested in learning more? Sarah is currently seeing patients at our Bone Health Clinic on Powder Mill Rd.

Last Thursday, Dr. Scott King participated in a panel discussion at the Post and Schell 2025 Workplace Law Seminar. Panelists answered questions about the intersection of workers' compensation and employment law with various issues that arise in the workplace. Topics included challenging workplace injuries, impairment, and substance abuse issues. We are thankful to Dr. King for being a part of this event and for sharing his valuable insight on these topics that impact so many businesses.
