A guesthouse for hospital patients and their families since 1978.

Maynard House is a home away from home with eight bedrooms, shared bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, and dining area. We are a low cost option for people traveling a distance to medical treatment or to stay close to a hospitalized loved one. Patients of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital and the VA Medical Center in WRJ, VT are eligible to stay.

A huge thank you to the amazing members of Alpha Xi Delta from Dartmouth College for spending their Saturday helping us with our annual fall cleanup! Your energy and teamwork made our grounds shine and helped us prepare for the colder months ahead. 🌳✨

A special shoutout to Domino’s Pizza for keeping our volunteers fueled and happy with a generous pizza donation 🍕—and heartfelt thanks to Chris Brown from the Hanover Garden Club for your guidance and extra hands in the gardens! 🌼

📣 We’re Looking for a Bookkeeper!

Maynard House is seeking a detail-oriented bookkeeper to help us manage our financial records and support our mission of providing affordable, comfortable lodging for patients and their families traveling to the Upper Valley for medical care.

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, organized, and comfortable working with QuickBooks. Experience with nonprofits and accrual accounting is a big plus!

💙 Remembering Diane Howland 💙

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved housekeeper, Diane Howland, who was part of the Maynard House family for the past nine years.

Diane wasn’t just a housekeeper—she was the heart and hands that helped make Maynard House feel like home. Her care, dedication, and kindness touched everyone who walked through our doors. She took pride in making sure our guests had a warm, welcoming place to stay during some of the hardest times in their lives.

We will always remember her steady presence, her generous spirit, and the love she poured into this house and community. Diane’s legacy lives on in the comfort she brought to so many.

She will be deeply missed by staff, volunteers, board members, and the countless guests whose lives were brightened by her care.

🕊️ Rest in peace, Diane—you will always be part of the Maynard House family.

🔦Board Member Spotlight: Thomas Hudson, CFA🔦

We’re proud to shine this week’s spotlight on our dedicated Board Treasurer, Thomas Hudson!

Tom brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry to Maynard House. As a Senior Portfolio Manager and Investment Strategist at Ledyard Financial Advisors, he works closely with clients to help them reach their financial goals. At Ledyard, Tom also plays a key role in shaping investment strategy, including asset allocation, manager research, security analysis, and client communications.

Since joining our board, Tom has offered invaluable guidance and financial expertise that helps Maynard House remain strong, sustainable, and mission-driven.

We’re also especially grateful to Tom for rolling up his sleeves and helping out at our recent Breakfast with Michael event — we couldn’t have done it without you!

🥞☕ Another heartwarming Breakfast with Michael is in the books — and what a wonderful morning it was!

We were thrilled to welcome guests to a cozy, welcoming space with hot coffee, warm smiles, and plenty of good food. A special shoutout to our Board Treasurer, Thomas Hudson, for joining in and helping make the morning extra special with his time and care.

We’re especially thankful to Lou’s Bakery for donating a dozen of their legendary cruller donuts — they were a huge hit with our guests!
