🎵 Music Therapy Internship Opportunity at Sing Explore Create! 🎵

Hello future MT-BCs,

We’re excited to begin accepting applications for Summer/Fall 2026 at Sing Explore Create in South Shore, Massachusetts! Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and positions may be filled quickly, so we strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Applications will remain open until April 17th, or until all positions are filled for this cycle. For more information, please visit our website and stay tuned—we look forward to connecting with you!

Sam Roane, MT-BC (she/her)
Service Development Coordinator & Music Therapist

Sam is one of a kind! She strives to support each person she works with through humanistic, resource-oriented, and adaptable approaches. She is passionate about building community, promoting creative expression, and creating safe, encouraging therapeutic spaces for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Outside of work, Sam likes to keep things musical - you might find her enjoying live music or singing in the car with the windows down. She also enjoys being in nature - especially kayaking and watching sunsets!

Happy Friday!

Did you know that music and creative arts can teach self-regulation skills? Music and art can be used as tools for self-expression and managing emotions in a safe and developmentally appropriate way. Music can also create a nonjudgmental and predictable space that allows children to feel safe and learn more about themselves!

Anyone who knows Rad Rowan knows that they rock!🤘Rowan believes in meeting clients where they are and building on their developing skills in a safe, fun, inclusive, accessible, and positive space. Rowan also loves being able to apply this philosophy to many settings and populations. Join us in congratulating Anna who completed her internship today! Anna has done amazing work as an intern and we are so excited to now welcome her to the Sing, Explore, Create team as an employee! Here's what Anna had to say after reflecting on her time in internship...

"My internship experience at Sing, Explore, Create has been a highly educational experience and I have felt encouraged and supported by everyone on our team here. I grew so much in practicing music therapy here and that was due to being a part of a highly creative team. I had the opportunity to work with a great variety of populations throughout my internship and, also, to work with multiple members of the Sing, Explore, Create team in sessions. Each therapist here has a unique perspective on how to practice music therapy, which meant I vastly expanded my understanding on how to work with clients based on observations of their work and advice received from each therapist.
My favorite memory at Sing, Explore, Create was during one of our team music-making experiences. The staff at our practice are encouraged to make music together to foster our love of music outside of sessions and work. We did a drum circle together based on the theme of community and it felt representative of my experience here. Sing, Explore, Create greatly values community music-making and bringing people together through music. I have seen how our community benefits from music therapy during our sessions and community events held at the practice. I am proud to be a part of a company that values this and truly puts in the effort to uplift and bring people together through music. I look forward to continuing my work here as an employee!"

Did you know that you can intentionally build playlists as a powerful tool for wellness? Here's a tip to get you started: for a relaxation playlist, try using music with few instruments and lyrics (and it doesn't have to be classical). This gives the brain less to analyze and process!

We understand that the holidays can bring up many different emotions, and so we wanted to remind you of a coping skill that can help you feel grounded and find a moment of stillness. This is a great tool to use when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Take a look around the room or space you're in and slowly identify five different things you can see. Then, four things you can touch, noticing the feel and texture of each item. This is followed by three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and finally - one thing you can taste. Complete each step slowly and mindfully.

Remember to show yourself love and compassion this holiday season. ❄🎄
