Added Nichols College Men’s Soccer of the NCAA DIII Conference of New England to the Erimus Psychology team last week.

First session (as always) dug deep on focus and presence, what you learn in life carries no relevance if it cannot be applied in a range of emotional states.

While most work we do is long term based, it was cool to see the team pick up a big 1-0 conference win over Endicott the following day, flying out of the gate and scoring the game winning goal in the first minute.

DMs open to winter sport coaches interested in covering the mental and emotional aspects of sport in more depth.

Erimus Psychology has enjoyed being part of camp once again as Julian ‘Jiggy’ Connerton prepares for his upcoming NEF amateur fight against Qasim Abdulla this weekend in Maine.

Consistent goalscoring calls upon elements of self perception and identity as much as it does technical skill.

Congrats to Erimus client Zamiyah Hill on an outstanding summer, registering 11 goals and 5 assists in 12 games for Tallahassee Reckoning, leading them to a playoff spot and second place finish in the USLW Southeast Division.

“For British and Irish Lions boss Andy Farrell, building connections has always been as crucial to fostering a winning environment as tactics and systems.” (Matt Gault, )

The version of ourselves often unifies, our negative side often divides. Having an understanding of human nature should be taught on all coaching licenses in every sport and is a massive separator for leaders.

Looking forward to watching Farrell mold a team from four nations over the coming month with the British Lions in Australia.

Is recruiting really always about finding the ideal place for you? Or is it about finding a place that will improve you?

Interesting quote from The Athletic about the recruiting journey of Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson, now in the NFL.

“The run-heavy Wolverines offense was starkly different from the wide open passing game at Saint Louis (his high school). It required receivers to contribute without the football, which turned out to be a blessing that rounded out Wilson’s skill set.”

Wilson himself said “Michigan was different for me…it helped me evolve into a more full-fledged player.”

I see this in Soccer a lot, gifted technical players who will need to round out their off ball game to get paid one day.

Could the school that doesn’t play your preferred ‘style’ help you in the end? It’s worth a thought if you’re actually trying to make it pro.
