Always strange to us how many college level coaches we work with that use the term “players don’t develop in college.”
It’s a wildly limiting mindset with no basis in truth, humans have the capacity to develop in many ways until the day we die. While some very real physical regression occurs, it’s definitely not at the college age.
In the sport of cricket, adult pro Rovman Powell (32 years old) had a particular challenge in spin bowling in T20 international games.
Before 2023 his average was 12.5 runs, in the games since he has raised that average to 42.7, a startling example of improvement.
If you coach older players, stop relieving pressure from yourself as a coach, set your players targets, and make plans to IMPROVE them.
